END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR COUNTDOWNS

All around HS^2 the students and staff are all looking forward to summer break and warmer weather. We've even started some countdowns to the end of the year! While this is exciting, we need to make sure students are in a good spot to end the year successfully. That being said, here is some possibly scary/exciting countdowns to consider (counting today!):

Number of days until the start of AP Tests: 3

Number of GOLD days left until the start of workshops: 5

Number of BLUE days left until the start of workshops: 5

Number of GOLD days during workshops: 8

Number of BlUE days during workshops: 8

Number of days until the end of the school year:

22 (Seniors) & 26 (9-11th Grade)

While we look towards the end of the courses and the end of the school year, Term 4 Progress reports will come out on May 8th! Progress reports will be available in Infinite Campus, but also will be emailed home by the students. These reports will include both an in-progress grade, and a teacher comment for every class.

Once released, these reports will be used to help create workshop schedules so that students are signing up for appropriate courses so that they can finish the year successfully.

AP EXAMS & SPRING WORKSHOPS

AP Exams:

While some AP Courses have had portfolio projects, papers, and presentations that students have been submitting to the College Board throughout the school year, AP Exams are the culminating event of the course! AP Exams will occur over the next two weeks from May 1 to May 12. Specific exam times and locations can be found here.

Spring Workshops:

After AP Exams are concluded, Spring Workshops will start on May 15 and will run until the end of the HS^2 school year on June 6th. While students are still required to attend their KMHS classes during Workshops (following the campus blue/gold schedule), many HS^2 classes might either be concluded or will offer flexibility of which block they sign up for. When a class is not meeting, students have agency to still sign up for extra course work time, sign up for extra time in a class that wouldn't normally meet on that particular day, or sign up for unique classes. Students will be signing up for Spring Workshops in the first part of May.

END OF THE YEAR SCHOOL SURVEY

We value your feedback! Student, parent, and staff feedback is collected annually and used to reflect and make improvements to the school. This year, the district adopted a survey from School Perceptions. Parents and students should have received an email from School Perceptions on April 19th. A reminder was also sent out earlier this week. Please complete this survey by May 3rd. Thank you!

SPEAK UP SPEAK OUT

On April 24th, high school campus students learned about a new reporting tool Speak Up Speak Out. This is a confidential way for students to make a report about someone who is hurting, struggling, or in danger. In many cases, these concerns can be shared directly with a trusted adult. However, the tip line is monitored 24/7 so it is a great option for outside of school hours or to ensure confidentiality. Once a report is made, the submission is shared with law enforcement, school administration, and/or mental health professionals depending on the scope of the concern.

PROHEALTH CARE VIRTUAL CAREER EXPLORATION SERIES

ProHealth Care is hosting a career exploration series using the online platform, WebEx. These 30-minute sessions aim to educate high school students about the wide range of careers in healthcare. All of the highlighted professions in the virtual series are careers with a high demand for workers.

Online sessions are held on Wednesdays from 11:05 to 11:35 a.m. The last session and topic is:

May 17 – Labor & Delivery

Registration is required. You will need to register for each date separately. The WebEx meeting link will be included in the confirmation email.
