MID-TERM PROGRESS REPORTS

On Friday, November 2 the HS^2 students were to send home Mid-Term Progress Reports with an attached reflection on their current grades, progress, and celebrations & action steps for continuing. Keep in mind, these are in-progress grades, not final grades, which means students still have the ability to make changes to improve their scores. We hope that these reports can help facilitate a conversation between advisors, students, and guardians. Students and parents will continue to have access to these reports via Infinite Campus under the Reports section.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT DAY

In working towards our goal of developing as engaged citizens, HS^2 is hoping to start a new tradition: Community Engagement Day! The first Community Day will be on Wednesday, December 21st, which is the last day before winter break. As a school, the entirety of HS^2 will be participating in community events whether its volunteering at a shelter, making or collecting items to donate, helping out at the elementary and middle schools, or planning a drive or other event. The purpose of this is for students to have an opportunity to be engaged citizens within the community both inside and outside of HS^2, which is a disposition on KM’s Graduate Profile!

To make this day be as successful as possible, we might need some outside help! If any non-students are interested in driving or chaperoning for this day, or have any volunteer ideas or connections within the community, please contact HS^2 Director Mrs. Ladsten at ladstenr@kmsd.edu.

Additionally, we are in need of some items to help us really make a difference! If you have any of the following items and would like to donate, please send them to school with your student(s) or drop them off at the High School Campus Main Office any time before December 21:

Knitting Needles

Stamps

Fleece for tie-blankets

Yarn

Holiday Cards

Envelopes

What do you like about HS^2?

I like the outreach opportunities we have, the self-paced class options, and the ability to build our own schedules for both inside and outside of school.

Why did you choose to come to HS^2?

I came here because I wanted to go into the health sciences field and I heard about the outreach opportunities.

What do you do outside of school?

I work as a CNA at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital and am a student representative for the school board. I also volunteer at HAWS, tutor middle school students, take care of my siblings, and like to listen to music.

What outreach experiences have you had?

Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Future Goals?

I want to both get my nursing degree and also become a physician assistant in my future.

What should people know about HS^2?

HS^2 is a lot of work, but it is a blessing to be able to work towards my life goals and I know I wouldn’t be able to accomplish so much without being in HS^2.
