1st SEMESTER TRANSCRIPTED GRADES & 2023-24 COURSE SELECTION

Workshops officially ended on January 19, and so did the first semester! Any courses that were completed at the end of the semester have now been transcripted within Infinite Campus. A reminder that while some HS^2 courses are ending, any HS^2 all-year-long courses will not have a grade transcripted until the end of the school year!

During the first half of February, 9-11th graders will complete course registration for the 2023-2024 school year. In preparation, students will have one-on-one conversations with their advisors about graduation requirements, the course selection process, and possible courses of interest. During March conferences, students, parents, and advisors will review the graduation requirements and discuss potential course selections.

Based on these conversations, each student will fill out a Google Form to register for their 2023-2024 HS^2 courses. If students would like to take any KMHS courses, they will enroll for those through Infinite Campus. The registration for KMHS classes will open in early February. With the many opportunities for conversations and discussions, it is hoped that students and parents can make the best choices for academic success for the 2023-24 school year.

CLASS SPOTLIGHT ~ Advanced Anatomy

New to HS^2 this year is the Dual Enrollment course: Advanced Anatomy. Being in a Dual Enrollment course means that the students may earn both high school and college credits during the school year.

During class time, students attend Zoom lectures with a professor from Alverno College. Additionally, students occasionally travel to Alverno College to perform labs with the professor. To prepare for the lectures and labs, the students are required to complete individual course work.

If you're looking to learn more in depth about the human body, get an inside feel into Alverno College, and advanced labs, then this class is perfect for you.

OUTREACH SPOTLIGHT ~ Vision Screenings

My name is Alexa and I am a junior in HS^2. I have been fortunate enough to take part in vision screenings for the Kettle Moraine elementary schools the past two years.

In HS^2, I was able to earn my screening certification by completing a course through Prevent Blindness Wisconsin. I learned how to properly screen the children while understanding how to identify certain vision disorders. In my future, I want to go into the healthcare field and I am specifically interested in nursing. This opportunity has allowed me to acquire more experience and knowledge that I can apply to my future education and career. Through this opportunity, I have gained a better understanding of the importance of these screenings because approximately one in four school-aged children have a vision problem. Children with vision disorders may not realize they are seeing the world differently, which can cause them to fall behind in school. It is crucial to catch these problems early to help children be successful in their learning. I am grateful for this experience. It has been very fulfilling to know that I am helping those around me.
