WORKSHOPS START ON MONDAY!

AP Exams are finishing up TODAY, which means Spring Workshops will begin on Monday, May 15th and go for the rest of the school year. The last day of school for HS^2 Seniors is Wednesday, May 31st and the last day of school for all other HS^2 students is Tuesday, June 6th. Students signed up recently for their proposed schedule, and after some adjusting to accommodate student need and section numbers, will receive their workshop schedule over the weekend.

Workshops allow students to finish up any missing or remaining work that they need to complete for the year, and they also provide fun classes and activities for those students who have finished all of their school work for the year. While students are still required to attend their KMHS classes during Workshops (and until June 9 following the campus blue/gold schedule), many HS^2 classes might either be concluding this week or are offering flexibility of which block a student signed up for. Some fun workshop options include outdoor activities, cooking, reading, puzzles and coloring!

We're excited to see the students start workshops with the hopes of finishing up their required classwork, reassessing as needed, and having some unique opportunities!

MEET THE TEACHERS

Ms. McLean

What is your favorite thing about HS^2?

My favorite thing about HS^2 is the relationships that we share among us. I like that I feel I know a lot of my students and I am excited to get to know the kids better over the course of several years.

What is something people may not know about you? Do you have any hidden talents?

I can balance a meterstick on my finger for a really long time.

What is your favorite hobby?

My favorite hobbies are reading, listening to podcasts, knitting, gaming, and gardening.

Where did you go to college?

UW Madison. I had a Secondary English education major.

What is your favorite class to teach and why?

My favorite class to teach is English 1-2 because I enjoy watching students read literature and find ways to relate to characters and situations they otherwise may not have imagined.

What is one piece of advice you want to give your students?

Get off social media, it’s doing nothing for you. For those of you that are able, vote! And it is important to think of every day as a new day.

What school did you use to teach at and for how long?

These are all the schools I have taught at:

  • Waukesha North HS
  • Waukesha Butler Middle School
  • Janesville Craig HS
  • Janesville Parker HS
  • Marshall Middle School
  • Atlas Preparatory Academy
  • Muskego HS

How long have you taught in HS^2?

While this is my 16th year teaching in total, this is my first year at HS^2.
