February 25, 2022
This week, HS^2 had the chance to experience our first virtual day of the year due to inclement weather. All students were expected to attend their classes virtually via Google Meet. The staff and students fell back quickly into the routine, and had a productive work day! Our HS^2 Lifespan class even continued the tradition of dressing up for the occasion, this time meeting for class in a tropical climate! We appreciate the flexibility of our students and staff on days like this!

As a reminder, in case of any inclement weather in the future, HS^2 will switch to distance learning rather than having snow days. The Inclement Weather Plans document can be found on our website under "Family Resources". This document outlines the expectations of students for each class for 2021-22. If a student has a Legacy class, they will follow the instructions outlined by that teacher.
MISSED CONFERENCES?
We were excited to welcome students and families to meet virtually this past week for our spring student-led conferences! During conferences, we discussed school year progress and plans for success, progress towards graduation requirements, and potential course selections for the 2022-23 school year.

If you happened to miss conferences but would still like to meet (face-to-face or virtually) please contact your student’s advisor through the “staff contact” link found at the bottom of this newsletter!
MEET THE STUDENTS ~ Lydia C.
Interviewee: Lydia C., HS^2 Junior
Interviewer: Kaylee M., HS^2 Junior
What do you like about HS^2?
I like the small community and how it's easier to connect with your teachers. I also like all of the outreach opportunities that HS^2 provides.

What do you do outside of school?
I play softball and I am in both the ottawa 4H club and the 4H model club.

What outreach have you been looking into?
I created my own outreach plan which has gotten approved by the Director, Mrs. Ladsten. I will be shadowing a small interior design business in Dousman where I will learn the basics of interior design and how to work with customers to meet their needs.
What are your future goals?
I plan on getting a degree in both interior architecture and interior design. I then plan to hopefully get a job in architecture.

What should people know about HS^2?
People should know that it’s very self structured, which can help you explore your interests and what you want to do in your future.
