Workshops Start on Monday!

December Workshops will start on Monday December 13 and will run until Wednesday December 22. Wait...what are Workshops? Workshops, like Green Days, are a feature of HS^2 that helps students continue working on content, catch up on late work, get ahead in their classes, or explore other opportunities.

While students are still required to attend their Legacy classes during Workshops (following the campus blue/gold schedule), many HS^2 teachers do not require a student to take particular classes during this time, or will offer flexibility of which block they sign up for. When a class is not meeting, students have agency to still sign up for extra course work time, sign up for extra time in a class that wouldn't normally meet on that particular day, or sign up for unique classes such as Physics in Curling, Yoga, College Cooking, and Exploration of Healthcare Occupations.

Student Progress Emails

The 2021-22 HS^2 school goal is to increase student and parent engagement throughout the year. A portion of this goal includes conducting individual check-ins between advisors and students, and sending monthly emails home to guardians from the students regarding progress. These emails should prompt more in-depth conversations between students and guardians, with a focus on celebrating successes and making plans for growth. You should’ve already received a number of these emails from your student, and should continue to do so throughout the year!

Join us for Coffee on January 5

Thank you to the parents that were able to join us for our first ever parent coffee on December 1st! Our next parent coffee will be on January 5 from 9:30 - 10:15 am at HS^2! This informal opportunity will allow current and future Parents and Guardians to learn more about the school, with a focus on school operations, community partnerships, outreach, and volunteering. Please complete this google form if you are interested in joining us on January 5!

HS^2 Inclement Weather Plan

In case of inclement weather, HS^2 will switch to distance learning rather than having snow days. This document outlines the expectations of students for each class for 2021-22. If a student has a Legacy class, they will follow the instructions outlined by that teacher.

HS^2 Is Hosting a Food Drive

HS^2 is in the midst of a Food Drive and we would love for you to get involved and help us out!

The Food Pantry will accept all donations that are not past date foods, but are looking specifically for the BIG 8 showed on the flyer.

You can drop off donations until December 20th to the KMHS front office, send donations with your student(s), or drop donations directly off at 1301 Sentry Drive!

Interpreting the MyLC Parent Digest!

If you've signed up to receive the MyLC parent digest, you should've started recieving an email every Monday. Each email is broken down into 2-3 sections: Recent & Upcoming Tasks, Recent Evidence Submissions, and Recent Teacher Notes. The email should give you a quick snapshot of how your learner is progressing towards their yearly goals, hopefully prompting any necessary conversations and/or celebrations!

If you haven't signed up yet, don't worry! Specific instructions for signing up to receive weekly parent emails from MyLC can be found in this document.

HS^2 Information Nights!

HS^2 will be hosting information nights on the dates listed above. These meetings are for students and families who are interested in attending HS^2 for the 2022-2023 school year. Please spread the word if you know anyone who is interested in learning more about our school. For more information click HERE.
