What is Planned Giving?
Simply put, Planned Giving is making a gift now to be received by the Church at a later date. It can be a gift of securities, real estate, tangibles, cash, or virtually anything of value and in any amount.
One does not need to be wealthy to make a gift of lasting value. Bequests can be either restricted or unrestricted. Income from all gifts is used by the Board of Trustees of the Endowment Fund in a number of important ways, including:
  • To foster maintenance and modify the physical structure of the Church
  • To initiate and grow ministries within our parish and beyond
  • To support adult education and spiritual formation
  • To encourage the Youth Ministries and Church School
  • To provide for clergy and staff development

The St. George Society honors those past and present who made provision for the Endowment Fund of The Church of St. Michael & St. George. This parish gives thanks for those who have given from their earthly treasure to provide for the work of this parish beyond the span of their lives.

There are several tax-advantaged ways to make a planned gift to the Foundation, including:
  • Bequests
  • Life insurance
  • Charitable lead trust
  • Charitable remainder unitrust
  • Charitable gift annuity
  • Cash/Check donation
If you are interested in joining the other families who are part of The St. George Society, please contact Laurie Brown at 314.721.1502 ext 4035, or email her at [email protected] or Edgar Ellermann at [email protected] .
NICARAGUA TRIP 2018
The World Service Mission Ministry committee made the decision last month to cancel the annual summer trip to Nicaragua due to political unrest. This was especially difficult right after our wonderful and very successful Nicaragua Dinner and Auction in April. We are committed to continuing to support the Carolina de Sirker Christian School and AMOS Health & Hope, which manages the guest houses where we stay. We will be sending financial support this summer to keep our commitment to support the school and AMOS. We have many friends in Nicaragua and they need us now more than ever during this difficult time. Please pray for a peaceful resolution in Nicaragua, for our friends in Nicaragua – the students, teachers, and their families, and the missionaries at AMOS.
Did you know that the Hunger Ministry was started over 30 years ago when Ed Salmon (then the Rector) asked Franklin Ferriss and his wife, Nancy, to start a ministry to assist people in St. Louis with meals on a regular basis? The Hunger Ministry supports four food pantries with financial assistance and two of the four receive food directly.
