20 September 2021 | Chartiers Valley High School
Dear CVHS Families,

Start With Hello Week
This week our school will be participating in Sandy Hook Promise’s “Start With Hello” Week. The main teachings and messages of the Start With Hello program are empowering students to:

  • Reduce social isolation;
  • Build inclusive and connected school communities; and
  • Prevent violence.

Each day there will be activities designed to enable students to make a difference with their peers in a simple, fun, and impactful way by encouraging them to take small but powerful actions to promote connectedness and inclusion and to identify and help others who are showing signs of social isolation.

Wednesday, 9/22 has been designated as WEAR GREEN DAY. Please wear something green to school on Wednesday to help promote the Start With Hello mission. Students are also encouraged to voluntarily submit an entry to the Start With Hello Student Voices Contest.

Open House & Post Secondary Night
The 2021-2022 CVHS Open House will be held on Thursday, September 30th from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

The high school will continue our tradition of using a “trade show” format for open house format. Specifically, rather than parents moving from classroom to classroom, our teachers will be grouped together by department. A map of locations will be provided the evening of open house. Having all faculty members from the department together not only allows you to meet your student’s teacher, but you can also learn more about future course offerings and course progression from year to year.

We also would like to encourage Juniors, Seniors, and their parents to attend a Post-Secondary Planning Seminar held the same evening as open house in the auditorium at 6:00pm. School Counselors will be sharing resources about exploring colleges, testing updates, applications, recommendation letters, Naviance, and official transcripts. https://hs.cvsd.net/services/school-counselors

From the Cafeteria
This school year our Food Service Department is experiencing some supply chain issues with numerous menu items for both breakfast and lunch. Some popular items are on backorder with no known restock date at this time. Please be aware that we are adjusting the menus when we are informed of any out of stock items and we are giving students other options to choose from during meal service. We ask for your patience during this time, we are doing the best we can with what products we are able to order. Please contact me if you have any questions and thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Chartiers Valley School District is offering FREE breakfast and FREE lunch to every student, every school day. More information.

We are also offering an a la carte snack menu this year for students who wish to pack their lunch and buy snacks.
