Dear CVHS Families,
PSAT/NMSQT - Thursday, October 29
On Thursday, October 29, 2020, Chartiers Valley will be administering the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). The PSAT will be offered to all 11th-grade students free of charge. All juniors were automatically registered for the PSAT, and all juniors that are present in the building on October 29th will be required to take the exam. Additionally, some sophomores voluntarily registered and paid for the exam. Sophomore registration closed on October 9, and additional registrations are not possible at this time.
Since the exam is a paper and pencil exam and it is required to be administered on the date set by the College Board, juniors and pre-registered sophomores scheduled for remote learning on October 29th will need to attend CVHS in person on that day to take the exam. Parkway students scheduled to take the PSAT should also attend CVHS on the morning of October 29th. Parkway students that are not taking the exam should report to Parkway at their normal time. There will not be a make-up exam day. If a student is not present in the building on October 29th, they will not be able to take the exam.
Details and instructions for exam day were emailed directly to the students registered for the PSAT. Room assignments for all students on exam day were set based on the HOMEROOM listed on the student’s class schedule provided on Infinite Campus. Since students have been reporting directly to 1st period so far this school year, students should check their schedule to ensure they know where to report.
On October 29, the CVHS school day will begin and end at normal times, however, to accommodate testing requirements, those students not involved with testing will remain in homeroom for an extended period of time. Due to the extended time in home room, students will not be considered tardy for school until after 10:45
CVHS Virtual Open House
We are excited to share our CVHS Virtual Open House presentation with parents! Since we are unable to bring all of our families into the building for a traditional Open House, our staff has created a wonderful alternative for you to experience. Please look below for the link to the HS virtual Open House. It is filled with a collection of individualized videos, pictures, classroom resources, and parent-teacher conference sign-ups for each teacher in an interactive slide presentation. Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for November 2 and will be held by phone or Google Meet.
You may find it helpful to first watch this brief video on how to navigate our virtual Open House: click here for the video. Once in the Open House presentation, you will find a staff photo on the first page. Click anywhere on the page to advance to the first interactive slide. If after viewing the presentation you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
