Classes Resume and End of Semester

Classes will resume on Monday, January 6th, following our regular bell schedule. We look forward to having our students and staff return to campus after what felt like a very quick holiday break!

Students who were absent for any midterm or final exam must coordinate directly with their teachers to arrange a time to make up the missed exam. If a student does not complete their midterm/final by Monday, January 13th, they will receive no credit for the exam, which will negatively impact their final course grade.

Please note the following key dates as we wrap up the second marking period:

  • The second marking period will continue through the first week we return from Winter Break and will officially end on Monday, January 13th.
  • Tuesday, January 14th, is a Teacher Record Day, and there will be no school for students.
  • The second semester will officially begin on Wednesday, January 15th, and students can access their new semester schedule via PowerSchool at that time.

If you have any questions, please contact your child's teachers or the Main Office for assistance with any questions regarding the end of the semester. Report cards will be posted to PowerSchool on Wednesday, January 22nd.

College Credit Plus/College Options Night

Any student interested in participating in the College Credit Plus (CCP) program for the 2025-2026 school year is strongly encouraged to attend this year’s College Credit Plus/Academic Options Night on Monday, January 27th, at 7:00 PM in the high school auditorium.

This essential meeting will explain and complete the mandatory intent to participate and transcript request forms, which are required to be eligible to participate in CCP programming.

This annual meeting is invaluable for both new and returning CCP students, as it provides important updates on the program's rules, policies, procedures, and any recent changes to CCP guidelines.

If you are unable to attend in person, the event will be recorded and made available to students and parents later that week. For questions, please contact Mr. Drypolcher in the counseling office.

BBHHS Launches Opt-In School Messenger Service for Students

Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School is excited to announce a new way for students to stay informed about important updates through SMS text messages and phone call/voice messages. This convenient service is designed to keep students up-to-date on critical school information, such as calamity day notices, special event reminders, testing schedules, and more.

Participation in this service is entirely optional and requires students to opt in. To become eligible to receive these messages, students must have their personal cell phone number registered in Final Forms.

On Tuesday, January 14th, all cell phone numbers registered in Final Forms will receive an opt-in message from Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School via School Messenger. Students will need to confirm their interest in receiving updates to activate this service.

Steps to Register

  1. Parents or guardians should log in to Final Forms and add their student’s cell phone number if it is not already provided in Final Forms.
  2. Ensure the number entered is accurate and active.
  3. Student will "opt-in" by responding to the prompt sent to them via School Messenger on 1/14/25.

We highly encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity to ensure they receive timely and important updates throughout the school year from BBHHS regarding school-wide events.

Food Services Availability

Attention students and parents: Breakfast will still be available on Monday, January 6, and Tuesday, January 7, but it will be served from the main serving line in the cafeteria. The Hive will be closed on these two days.

The Hive will reopen and resume normal operations on Wednesday, January 8. Thank you for your understanding as our Food Service Department restocks the pantry after the long holiday break!

American Government EOC Administration

All students enrolled in a first semester American Government course will take their End of Course exam on Thursday, January 9th. Students who are scheduled in their Government class during periods 1-4 will take their exam beginning at 7:45am in the Auxiliary Gym, while students who have their Government class during periods 5-9 will take their exam beginning at 11:00am in the Auxiliary Gym.

Students will need to ensure their BBHCSD-issued Chromebook is charged and ready for the testing session, as the exam is taken electronically. Students received emails on Thursday, December 19th, with details about their assigned room and testing time.

Save the Date: A Toast to Our Future Hosted by the Schools Foundation

The Brecksville-Broadview Heights Schools Foundation is excited to announce its annual fundraising event, "A Toast to Our Future." The event will raise funds for the highly successful and impactful classroom grant program sponsored by the Schools Foundation, which brings innovative enrichment programs to each of our schools.

Attendees will taste wines provided by Michael Angelo's Winery and enjoy light appetizers. At the same time, all community members can bid on several exciting packages in an online auction that will open before the event and be live during it.

This Week at BBHHS!

The Hive is always buzzing, even when we are on an extended break from regular classroom activities. Many of our winter athletic teams competed over the holiday break, with our boys' and girls' basketball teams traveling to Florida for winter tournaments. Both programs had outstanding showings and represented Ohio, our communities, our school, and their programs extremely well in their tournaments.

Our girl's basketball team competed in the KSA Classic Basketball Tournament in Orlando. While in Orlando, the Lady Bees defeated last year's state-runner-up from Massachusetts and Deer Park Texas HS. Unfortunately, the Lady Bees fell in the finals to a highly ranked team from Virginia, The Potomac School, in a close contest in the championship game, 55-46. Congratulations to Bridget Barber, who was voted Team MVP by KSA officials for her outstanding play in the tournament.

The boy's basketball team returned to the Tampa Bay area to participate in the North Coast Christmas Tournament. This is an annual trip for the boy's program, and they once again made their presence known in Florida. The Bees won three games and were again crowned the North Coast Christmas Tournament Champions! The boys were led by Brady Ganley, who was selected as the tournament MVP! Joining Brady were Steven Skaljac and Ben Mehendale who were selected as All-Tournament First Team Players.

The Bees Swim Team showcased their talent at the Viking Invitational held at Cleveland State University on Saturday, December 21, bringing 12 swimmers to compete against some of the best in the region.

Leading the way for the Bees were senior Savannah Koepke, and sophomores Mallory Koepke and Ben Ackerman, all of whom advanced to finals in their respective events.

  • Savannah Koepke delivered a standout performance in the 200-yard freestyle, achieving a season-best time of 2:08.28.
  • Mallory Koepke impressed in the 100-yard breaststroke, posting both a season and personal best time of 1:12.91.
  • Ben Ackerman excelled in the 100-yard breaststroke as well, clocking a season and personal best of 1:03.25, which currently ranks him 5th in Northeast Ohio for the event.

As the Bees celebrate their achievements at the Invitational, they now turn their focus to the Suburban League Championships. Junior diver Rachel Kirin aims to defend her Suburban League Diving Championship title this evening, while senior Broc Rousseau looks to claim a Suburban League title of his own.

Bees Wrestling was also very busy over the two-week holiday break. The Bees traveled to the Beast of the East Tournament held at the University of Delaware. The Brecksville-Broadview Heights wrestling team delivered an impressive performance, securing 5th place in the team standings. Notably, Junior Rylan Seacrist advanced to the finals in the 113-pound weight class, ultimately finishing as the runner-up after a closely contested match. Other place winners were Junior Anna Madi (120) and Senior Riley McPherson (215), who placed 5th, and Senior Harrison Haffner (126), who placed 6th.

Our wrestling program was ecstatic to host the 64th Brecksville Holiday Wrestling Tournament at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School on December 28th and 29th. The tournament featured numerous state-ranked wrestlers and nationally recognized teams, underscoring the high level of competition present at the longest-running holiday tournament in the nation. Once again, the Bees had an outstanding showing, finishing 3rd out of 46 teams in the field with four nationally ranked teams competing.

Holiday Tournament Champions included Rylan Seacrist (113), Harrison Haffner (126), and Riley McPherson (215). Sophomore Zack Aquila (157) and Junior Jace Jett (138) were Runner-Up FInalists, Junior EJ German (285) placed 4th, Senior Caden Pluhar placed 5th, and Freshman Lucas Schulz (106) placed 7th.

Thank you to our coaches, tournament advisory board, and many parent volunteers who helped make BBHHS shine to the thousand-plus visitors we had over the two-day period. The event is always well run and a destination tournament for many teams from Ohio and the nation. It would not be possible without your generous support.

Do not miss the Bees TONIGHT as they take on Perry in the Dual on the State, pitting two of the highest-ranked D1 teams in Ohio who are both nationally ranked.
