National Honor Society Induction
Congratulations to the 114 Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School students who were inducted today as new members of the BBHHS chapter of the National Honor Society. To qualify for the National Honor Society, a student must be a Junior or Senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher. Students who possess the minimum academic qualification are invited each fall to complete an application that is reviewed by a Faculty Council to determine eligibility.
NHS applicants must provide evidence of leadership, service, school, and community activities each year of high school. Additionally, applicants must secure a recommendation from a faculty member who can speak to their character. Students must exemplify in totality the following core pillars: Character, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service. Students in the 9th or 10th grades interested in being inducted into NHS are encouraged to speak to their counselor to begin reviewing their candidacy and qualifications in order to benefit their candidacy.
During the 80th NHS induction ceremony held at BBHHS, science teacher Mr.John Mutch, who was selected by current NHS members to serve as the faculty speaker for the induction ceremony, spoke to current National Honor Society members, inductees, and their families about the importance of taking on challenges, paying yourself first, the value of hardwork, and appreciating the support of those who offer you . In addition to Mr. Mutch, student speakers Mallorie Kostyack, Kayla Kosla, Jesse Hansen, and Cadence Guo addressed new members and their families on each pillar of NHS.
Special thank you to National Honor Society President Tallah Alalao, and NHS advisors Mrs. Jaci Owens, and Mrs. Jennifer Williams for their efforts in hosting and planning the ceremony.
We are excited to welcome these new students to our National Honor Society and challenge them to help be stewards of Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School.
