U.S. News and World Report Best Public High Schools Ranking

Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School is proud to announce its recognition by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation’s top public high schools. BBHHS was ranked among the Top 20 high schools in Ohio and placed 584th in the United States, earning a spot in the top 2% of more than 24,000 schools reviewed nationwide.

The U.S. News rankings are based on multiple performance indicators, including state assessment proficiency and performance, college readiness, graduation rates, and underserved student performance. These measures highlight schools that prepare students for success both in higher education and future careers.

This recognition reflects the dedication and support of education by the parents, staff, and students of Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School. Congratulations to all of our Bees on this outstanding recognition!

School Lockdown Drill Conducted 8/22

Today, Friday, August 22, Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School conducted a school-wide lockdown drill in cooperation with the Brecksville and Broadview Heights Police Departments.

During the drill, teachers guided students through building safety protocols rooted in the principles of ALICE. The exercise also allowed us to test the district’s Centegix rapid response emergency system. The drill was successful, and we are grateful to both police departments for their assistance in conducting the drill and for debriefing with our administrative team, students, and faculty regarding the drill scenario and best school-safety practices.

We also tested our schoolwide messaging system, which announced the start and conclusion of the drill via SMS. If you did not receive these messages and would like to in the future, please reference the graphic below for instructions on registering for School Messenger.

Open House: Wednesday, August 28th

Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School will host our annual Open House on Wednesday, August 27th, starting promptly at 7:00 p.m. and concluding at 8:30 p.m. Parents should report to their child's 1st-period assigned class.

Parents can access their child's schedule via PowerSchool and should come to Open House prepared with their child's course schedule to know which classes and teachers to visit. Brecksville-Broadview Heights students and staff will be present to help families navigate the BBHHS campus during Open House.

The Open House format will allow you to meet and hear from each of your child's teachers throughout the evening. This is a great opportunity to meet your child's teachers, learn about the course curriculum for their selected classes, and learn about the systems and supports available to them this school year.  

During Open House, several of our parent organizations and student clubs will be on hand to share information about how students can get involved at BBHHS. Clubs and organizations will have tables placed throughout the building, and we encourage you to take some time to learn more about these groups so that you can encourage your child to visit with them during our Student Activity Fair, also scheduled for Wednesday, August 27th. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, August 27th, for Open House!

Club and Activity Fair

On Wednesday, August 27th, our annual Club and Activity Fair will take place in the BBHHS gymnasium. The Club and Activity Fair will take place on Wednesday, September 4th, in the Main Gym during lunch.

One of the significant components of the educational program at BBHHS is our wide array of diverse clubs and activities. With over 50 extracurricular options available, there is truly something for everyone to join. You can find a list of clubs and activities on our Club and Activity Page, located under Student Activities on the High School Website.

If you don’t see a club that interests you, please let us know! Our faculty is always willing to sponsor new activities to help students explore their passions and interests.

School Picture Day 8/27

On Wednesday, August 27th, during the school day, our school picture day will be held for students in grades 9-11. Seniors will have an additional opportunity to have their yearbook portrait taken at BBHHS in November.

Parents can now begin ordering photo packages online through the Cavanaugh Photography website. 

The online portal for ordering school photo packages will remain open for 48 hours after picture day, so please make sure to place your orders promptly!

For families wishing to pay by cash or check, please print the PDF link provided below and send it with your child on the day of the school pictures. Please note that payment must be the exact amount, and no change will be made.

SafeArrival Attendance System

Starting next week, the BBHHS Attendance Office will begin using the Safe Arrival notification system to alert families about student absences that have not been reported. This includes students who fail to scan into an assigned Study Hall area when required to do so.

Please review with your child the importance of following daily attendance procedures and attending classes, as parents will receive notifications when a student's attendance is not accounted for. Directions for using Safe Arrival are below.

2025-2026 School Fees

Initial school fees for the 2025-2026 school year for BBHHS are $110, which covers $80 for the general fee and $30 for the technology fee. These fees have been added to student accounts and can now be paid.

All fees can be paid via PaySchools Central or made in person at the building. We accept cash, check or credit card (only in person).

Please be aware that additional student fees, such as AP exams, club participation, etc., will be added as well throughout the school year when rosters are finalized.

Communication regarding when these fees are added will be made to families in a timely manner. It is essential to check your fee balance either via PaySchools Central or PowerSchool throughout the year to ensure student eligibility for specific events and activities such as commencement, athletic participation, dance attendance, and open campus.

Bees Athletic Boosters

Hello Bees Families! We welcome you to join the Bees Athletic Boosters (BAB) for the 2025-2026 school year. The BAB is a volunteer organization to support all athletes at the High School and Middle School. We purchase recognition awards for our athletes, grant allocation requests to teams for equipment and uniform purchases, award senior scholarships, fundraise for athletic facility improvement projects, and so much more. We offer membership levels that include athletic event passes for you or your entire family.

This Week at BBHHS

This week Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School opened its doors for the start of the 2025–2026 school year. Students were welcomed on the first day by faculty, staff, and Superintendent Mr. Harrison at the front entrance, along with the inflatable Bee, while building sub, Mr. Holobinko, greeted students at the auditorium entrance as he DJ'ed! The week went smoothly, and we thank students and families for their patience as we addressed a few minor scheduling adjustments.

On Friday, the Marching Bees performed in the hallways, continuing a tradition that will take place throughout the fall marching band season. These performances will occur weekly and occasionally include visits to classrooms.

Our fall athletic teams are also underway. Boys Soccer began the season 2–0 with wins over Highland and Revere. Girls' Soccer stands at 1–1 after competing against Medina and North Olmsted. Volleyball dropped its opener to defending state champion Saint Joseph Academy and returns to competition next week. Boys Golf has had a strong start, finishing 5th at the Prestwick Invitational and 2nd at the St. Vincent–St. Mary Tournament at Good Park Golf Course. Congratulations to Mikey Sejba, who earned medalist honors with a score of 73!

Overall, it was a successful start to the school year, and we look forward to continued progress and accomplishments from our students in academics, activities, and athletics.
