Open House: Thank You!

Thank you for attending and actively participating in our Open House this past Wednesday. We had a tremendous turnout, and it was wonderful to see so many families engaging with our staff and learning about what students will be exploring this year. Your presence and involvement truly make a difference.

Our turnout was so impressive that our SADD students sold over 75 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts in less than 15 minutes! Your support of your child and our staff is the key to our school’s success and vibrant community.

Thank you once again for joining us, and we look forward to seeing you at future events held on campus this year.

Homecoming 2024!

Homecoming 2024 is just around the corner! Next week, the HS News and Notes will provide details on Homecoming Week events, themes, ticket sales, guest affidavits, and this year’s Homecoming theme.

Please note that, weather permitting, the dance will take place outdoors at the BBHHS stadium on Saturday, September 21st, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing as many Bees there as possible!

PowerSchool Parent Access Follow-Up

We are pleased to share that the launch of the Parent PowerSchool Portal has been largely successful, with many of our families completing the authentication process and linking their child(ren) to their parent accounts.

We have noted that the most common issue reported with setting up parent accounts involved attempting to log in before creating the account. To avoid receiving an error message stating that the account already exists, please ensure you select the "Create Account" tab before trying to log in.

If you are still experiencing difficulties with establishing your parent access, please do not hesitate to reach out to any member of the BBHHS administrative team or contact Mrs. Kraus in the Assistant Principal's Office for assistance.

Counseling Department Update

The BBHHS Counseling Department will begin visiting classrooms over the next several weeks. Starting the week of September 3rd, counselors will meet one-on-one with 9th and 10th-grade students to build connections and check in on how the school year has begun.

Additionally, Mrs. Baselach, Mr. Drypolcher, and Mrs. Owens will start meeting with senior English classes the week of September 9th to discuss the college application process. For students taking English Language Arts outside of BBHHS, the Counseling Department has shared the English course schedule with students, allowing them to join any available period that fits their schedule.

On September 13th, we will also host our New Student Luncheon to welcome students new to the district. Stay tuned for more details!

School Picture Day 8/28

As a final reminder, the online portal for ordering school photo packages will close TODAY! Please make sure to place your orders promptly! You can place orders by scanning the QR Code or visiting the Cavanaugh Photography website.

Student Activity Fair

The Student Activity Fair will take place on Wednesday, September 4th, in the Main Gym during lunch.

One of the significant components of the educational program at BBHHS is our wide array of diverse clubs and activities. With over 50 extracurricular options available, there is truly something for everyone to join. You can find a list of clubs and activities on our Club and Activity Page, located under Student Activities on the High School Website.

If you don’t see a club that interests you, please let us know! Our faculty is always willing to sponsor new activities to help students explore their passions and interests.

Daily BBHHS Attendance Procedures

Regular daily class attendance is proven to be a necessity for the success of our high school students. We encourage all BBHHS students to attend school regularly and on time to benefit from the rich learning opportunities and engaging student activities. If your child is expressing difficulties with school attendance, don't hesitate to contact our staff, who will help develop systems and routines to help improve your child's attendance.

In the event of a school absence, every attempt should be made to communicate the absence to the school in advance whenever possible. Below is a graphic that will be shared weekly in the HS News and Notes to help make contacting the BBHHS Attendance Office as simple as possible. Please be aware of some of our attendance guidelines that are outlined in our Student Handbook:

  • Parents must notify the Attendance Office if a student is absent from school.
  • Students leaving early for an appointment or returning from one, must check-in with the attendance secretary, Mrs. Tagalicod, in the main office to receive a pass before returning to class or leaving the building.
  • Absences will be excused for the following reasons:

  • Appointment with a healthcare provider
  • Illness in the family necessitating the presence of the child

  • Students must arrive at school on time daily. This is defined as being in the assigned classroom at the 7:45 am 1st-period bell and the bell for each subsequent class period

Unified Flag Football Volunteer Sign-Up

Please complete the signup sheet by Friday, September 6th. Please be aware volunteers must attend a meeting on Tuesday, September 10th, before school at 7:20 am in the LGI.  If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Backo.

Arrival and Dismissal from School

With the return to school, we want to share important information regarding traffic patterns and safety procedures to help ensure a smooth start to the 2024-25 school year. Below are the traffic patterns for car drivers and buses for arrival and dismissal. Please ensure you know the traffic patterns so you can be best prepared when driving to and from campus.

Traffic congestion may increase at the start of the year, particularly after 7:30 a.m. Please ensure your child leaves home with ample time to arrive at school safely and on time.

We’ve observed that some students do not utilize the sidewalks as they leave school for the day, opting to cross through pick-up traffic to reach their buses or the lower student parking Gold Lot. This behavior creates unsafe conditions for both pedestrians and drivers. Please remind your child always to use the sidewalks when departing from school. This practice is crucial for maintaining a safe environment for everyone.

New Student Resource- The Colony Cupboard

The Counseling Office is excited to announce that we have launched a new resource for BBHCSD students called the Colony Cupboard. This initiative aims to create a safe and discreet space within the high school, managed by one member of our counseling staff to protect confidentiality, where students can access essential resources during times of difficulty. The primary focus of the Colony Cupboard is to provide basic necessities that will enhance students' overall well-being, allowing them to feel comfortable, secure, and equipped to engage in their educational environment fully. Students will be able to fill out an anonymous survey requesting what they need and will then have a discreet bag to take home with the essentials at no cost to them.

At this time, we have opened up the request form for those who may need school supplies.  When filling out the form, keep in mind that these supplies are also available for siblings in the district so feel free to request the items they need as well.  Over the next couple of weeks, we will be adding personal hygiene products, basic household supplies, and limited pantry staples to the form for students to also request as needed. Please use the QR code below when requesting needed items. This QR code is also hanging in various places throughout the high school.  Keep in mind that a BBHHS email address needs to be provided on the form so that we can respond to the request with the confirmation of fulfillment and the location of the items.

Feel free to contact Megan Boulton at boultonm@bbhcsd.org with any questions or requests regarding specific needs.
