Spirit Week, Parade, Bonfire and Pep Rally Recap
We have had an outstanding week here at BBHHS for our annual Homecoming Spirit Week! Our Student Council, advised by Mrs. Leah Barboza, carried out a highly participated in daily dressdown theme contest with Ms. Vendel's Colony Period showing the most school spirit for their overall participation. Donuts for their overall participation will be shared next week with their Colony Period. We were excited to once again host our annual parade and bonfire event after having to miss this great event last year as a result of Covid-19. Thank you to the Brecksville Police and Fire Departments for their assistance with this event as well as Chief Zamiska from the Brecksville Fire Department for support with the bonfire. We ended our week with the Marching Bees taking over the hallways 6th period and our outdoor pep rally. All events had great participation and added some great energy and excitement to our school.

We look forward to our home Varsity Football game vs Stow on Friday evening where our Homecoming Royalty will be crowned and our Saturday evening Homecoming Dance hosted at the BBHHS stadium. Below are some images from our Spirit Week and our HoCo Hype video filmed and edited by BBHHS Senior Eli Skaljac!

Deviant Licks Challenge
We want to make parents aware of a social media challenge that has gone viral and is now impacting schools and communities across our region. The challenge is known as "Deviant Licks". This challenge encourages kids to participate in acts of vandalism, theft, and general deviant behaviors and to share it out on social media platforms such as Tik Tok and Snapchat. Unfortunately, we have not been immune to some of this behavior at BBHHS these past few weeks. Please remind your child that what they are being challenged to do is to break both the school Code of Conduct and locally established laws regarding the damage and theft of personal and/or public property. Please discuss with them that if caught engaging in this behavior they become liable and are subject to school discipline including suspension and possible expulsion based on the totality of action, restitution for damages, and potential charges being filed by local law enforcement in significant situations.

BBHHS belongs to our students and we ask that you encourage them to treat their school and their community with dignity and respect. We also ask that you encourage the overwhelmingly vast majority of students who are not participating in this kind of unacceptable behavior to not tolerate it from those who do and to share any information they may have regarding any of the types of incidents above with school administration or a trusted adult. I have included a link to our anonymous reporting system the STOPit app below if wishing to remain anonymous in reporting. We greatly appreciate your support in helping to maintain a safe and orderly school environment.

Homecoming Dance
Our Homecoming Dance will take place on Saturday, September 18th starting with doors opening at 7:30 pm and the event lasting until 10:30 pm. Our dance will be held outside at the BBHHS stadium weather permitting. We are pleased to announce that our event has received an official sponsorship from Event Source! We are grateful for their very generous donation to our event and their efforts to help make our outdoor event a bit more special. We cannot thank you enough and cannot wait to share with our students how Event Source has transformed our stadium concession stand area for our event!

Tickets are still available on the PaySchools website at a cost of $20.00 for students from BBHHS wishing to attend. Students who have not completed Final Forms and those students planning on bringing a guest, without having provided the required affidavit, will not be issued entrance to the dance or a refund if the ticket has been purchased.
Important Student Car Rider Drop-off Notice
Please be aware that on Wednesday, September 20th students who are dropped off at school via car WILL NOT be able to be dropped off in the upper lot of the school due to the Ohio Department of Transportation mandated annual school bus evacuation training the district must conduct. We are asking that students who receive a ride to school be dropped off along the sidewalk on the east side of BBHMS and exit the car on the curbside. Broadview-Heights Police will be present to help direct the flow of traffic. Only busses and school personnel vehicles will be permitted to have access to the upper lot this day. We strongly encourage families to account for some increased traffic on this day in the lower Junior Lot and to adjust their arrival time to school accordingly to account for anticipated delays.
National Merit Semi-Finalists
Congratulations to BBHHS Seniors Ann Mathew and Anna Chermonte for their qualification as National Merit Semi-Finalists based upon their qualifying score from the 2020 PSAT/NMSQT qualifying exam. Roughly 16,000 students or the top 1% of students in the nation qualify for National Merit Semi-Finalist status. Join us in celebrating both Ann and Anna's tremendous academic accomplishment. We are proud of you and are thrilled that this recognition will provide you with some well deserved opportunities! Pictured at left Ann Mathew and at right Anna Chermonte.
Interim Grades
We have reached the "half-way" point of the first marking period for the 21-22 school year. Please login to ProgressBook to review and discuss with your child their current academic progress. At this point of the term students have established a base for their quarter grades and enough academic evidence to suggest strong performance or a potential need for intervention. If after reviewing your child's progress and identifying concerns we would encourage you to reach out to your child's teacher(s) directly.
Fall Athletic Program
Did you know that our BBHHS Band Boosters have published a FREE Fall Athletic Program that is available for download digitally! Please take a moment to download this great resource to meet our fall athletic teams, the Marching Bees and many of our outstanding community partners!

Senior Parent Night and Senior College & Career Counseling
Ms. Owens & Mr. Drypolcher recently completed visits to all Senior English classes to share pertinent information related to graduation, the college application process, requesting and securing letters of recommendation, applying for financial aid, completing the Common Application, and much more.

Click here to access the presentation and be sure to review the Senior Packet that was distributed to students during these meetings. Seniors are encouraged to schedule one-on-one meetings with their assigned College and Career counselor for more individualized guidance and support in regards to the college application process. To schedule an appointment with Ms. Owens or Mr. Drypolcher please click here.

In addition to the class meetings the BBHHS Counseling Department will be hosting a Senior Parent Night at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 20th in the BBHHS Auditorium. The counselors will cover the pivotal role the parent/guardian plays in the college application process and offer resources and tips for how to best prepare for this process. The event will not be livestreamed but information highlighted during the presentation will will be posted on the BBHHS counseling website at the conclusion of the presentation. Families are strongly encouraged to attend this in-person event.
Important Food Services Department Update
Food Shortages are nationwide, and our district is also experiencing unavailable items or last-minute replacements. Menus are subject to change, and we will do our best to offer a substitute of equal nutritional value. We appreciate your patience and understanding! We look forward to continuing to serve all of our students free breakfast and lunch this year!
