Teacher Spotlight

When a person becomes a teacher they are joining a great league of individuals who care about the future of those in our community. They can only want success and prosperity for every child they have the ability to give the gift of knowledge. Teachers leave a lasting impression on their students and are expected to mirror true citizens with great morals and values. Mr. Spottswood, our music teacher, has shown his love for his students and music in everything he does and he epitomizes what it means to be a leader in the community. He exhibits expertise in the following instruments: violin, piano, and jazz bass. Since joining our HSA team last year, he has lead the choir team to participate in various community events, which includes last year's performance at a local nursing home and returning for another holiday jubilee outside of Easton Mall this past December. This year he has added "Open Mic Night" to his long list of activities, encouraging students to express themselves in a new and exciting way. Aside from his work as a respected music teacher Mr. Spottswood also gives private music lessons to youth and adults who have an interest in studying music.

We'd like to congratulate Mr. Spottswood on all of his accomplishments including his most recent milestone of becoming a husband. We wish him continued success and happiness. Congratulations and thank you for being an amazing asset to our students!
Inneswood Garden Hike

On Sunday, January 21st, families were invited to join Horizon staff for the Inniswood Gardens Metro Park Winter Hike. The hike draws hundreds of people from around the Columbus area. The ground was a little slushy, but that didn't stop the kids from exploring along the way. We stopped in the maze garden to read the Native American creation story written on blocks within the maze garden. There were also many special stopping points along the hike. Cookies and chili were served at the end.
Join us on future hikes including hikes this week with a viewing of the historical super blood moon. Check out the schedule here for future hikes.

Children under the age of 18 will be provided with free dental exams, cleanings, extractions, crowns and fillings. VEX IQ Robotics Tournament

Since the beginning of the year the Robotics Team has done an excellent job preparing for robotics competitions. In November our teams had a great opportunity to perform their robotics skills in competition; one of our teams got 5th, one of them got 6th and, one of them got the 10th place between 65 teams. Since then they have continued to expand on their knowledge of this exciting field of engineering. Saturday, February 2nd students will put their skills to the test again at the Vex IQ Ringmaster Tournament
Our students did a great job representing our school and we are extremely proud of their hard work and dedication.

Special thanks to Mr. Serif and Mr. Yasin for their hard work!
