As summer is behind us, the fall season is ushering in cooler temperatures along with stunning hues of autumn leaves, reminding us that the change of season has arrived. I hope you take the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful time of year.
At the beginning of this fall season, we find ourselves reflecting on the recent events surrounding Hurricanes Helene and Milton. These powerful storms have reminded us of nature's unpredictability and the resilience required to face its challenges. To the HSE Division members who have been impacted by the aftermath of the storms, we hope that you and your family are safe and receiving the assistance needed to recover from this devastating storm. To all other HSE Division members, let us acknowledge the tireless efforts of those working towards recovery and rebuilding. One thing that I am most proud of in being a part of the HSE Division is that when tragedy strikes, we come together as a “HSE family” in reaching out and checking on our friends in other states. Let’s seek out opportunities to provide assistance to those affected during this difficult time. An email or phone call can go a long way!
I would like to highlight that there is still time to register for the ACTE's CareerTech VISION that will be held Dec. 4–7, at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas. If you have not registered, yet, you can still take advantage of the discounted rate by Oct. 13. If you have never been to a VISION conference, I would like to encourage you to attend! Career tech educators from across the country attend this premier annual career and technical education (CTE) event that provides an unparalleled opportunity to gain insights into emerging trends in CTE, connect with fellow educators and industry professionals, and discover innovative teaching strategies and technologies. As one past attendee noted, "The conference far exceeded my expectations. I'm excited to return to school to implement many ideas.”
Word of Encouragement: As health science educators, you play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare. Your dedication and passion not only inspire your students, but also empower them to make a meaningful impact on others’ lives. Embrace the challenges that lie ahead, knowing that your influence extends far beyond the classroom – together, you are transforming lives and advancing the health of society.
I hope that you have a great fall semester! Please let me know how I can be of service to you.
