Spring Quarterly News Update

Greetings Health Science Education Division Members!

I hope this newsletter finds you doing well, as you start heading towards the end of the spring semester and the end of another school year!

Last month, 400+ career and technical education (CTE) professionals attended ACTE’s National Policy Seminar (NPS) in Washington, DC. While I have attended NPS several times, I always learn something new every year and last month was no exception. I gained a deeper understanding of recent decisions related to reduced staffing and funding at the U.S. Department of Education, and I attended meetings and a panel discussion where experts shared up-to-date insights on several CTE-related federal policy issues. The experience that is always a highlight for me is being able to visit with my Members of Congress or their staffers one-on-one and share how the decisions made in Congress will affect students back home. I am very thankful for the opportunities and access that NPS offers to its ACTE members and event attendees. My trip to NPS last month was one of the best! If you have not been to NPS, I would strongly encourage you to attend!

In this spring edition of the HSE Division’s newsletter, I am excited to be sharing the following opportunities for the HSE membership:

  • Health Science Education Division Vice President-Elect Application Information
  • Health Science Education Division Scholarship (Open to HOSA Officers only)
  • Health Science Education Division 2025 Awards Opportunities
  • HSE Division’s Policy Committee Meeting – Updates
  • HSE Division’s Strategic Plan

Enjoy the remaining part of this spring semester and have a great summer! I hope that you take some time to reflect and get refreshed knowing that your hard work in shaping the next generation of health professionals is truly making a difference! Thank you for the work you do every day for CTE. Let’s continue to make a difference together!

Best regards,

LaDonna Selvidge
