As the spring semester enters its final months, strong momentum continues across Health Science Education (HSE) programs nationwide. Classrooms, labs, and clinical/work-based learning environments are filled with students refining their skills, completing program requirements, and preparing for the next step in their journey, whether that is entering the healthcare workforce, continuing their education, or both.
This time of the year also marks the conclusion of HOSA State Leadership Conferences across the country – an exciting season of achievement and recognition. In these moments, students showcased not only their technical knowledge, but also their professionalism, confidence, and commitment. Congratulations to all who will be attending HOSA-ILC in June! These experiences underscore the powerful impact of health science education in shaping the future of healthcare, as well as the dedication, expertise, and unwavering support educators provide each day. As health science educators, your influence extends far beyond the classroom — you are mentors, leaders, and advocates, driving the development of a highly skilled, knowledgeable, and compassionate healthcare workforce.
The HSE Division remains committed to supporting its members through professional growth, leadership development, and meaningful engagement. I encourage you to explore the opportunities highlighted in this newsletter. In the next few weeks, additional details will be shared about ACTE’s National Leadership Fellowship Program, along with opportunities to engage and grow within the HSE Division.
As we approach the end of the academic year, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on your students’ growth and the impact you make each day. Take the Next Step in Leadership: HSE Division Vice President Applications Now Open
The application period for the next HSE Division Vice President position is open now though Monday, June 15, at 11:59 p.m. (EST). The next HSE Division Vice President will begin a three-year term as the next HSE Division Vice President starting July 1, 2027.
This is an excellent opportunity to serve in a national leadership position and help shape HSE within the ACTE. The vice president plays a key role in supporting division initiatives, representing HSE members, and contributing to strategic decisions that impact CTE across the country.
If you are passionate about advancing HSE, supporting educators and students, and expanding your leadership at the national level, you are strongly encouraged to apply or share this information with another ACTE HSE Division member. It is a meaningful way to grow professionally, expand your network, and make a broader impact in our field.

Attention HOSA Advisors: HSE Scholarship Application Period for HOSA Officers Still Open
The HSE Scholarship application period is still open! Please share this scholarship information that is designed specifically for HOSA members who currently serve as local, state, or national officers of HOSA – Future Health Professionals.
What’s at stake
- $500 scholarship award to each of the three top candidates.
- Recognition at the HOSA International Leadership Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana in June
- A standout addition in your student’s academic and leadership portfolio
Who can apply
- Current HOSA officers (local, regional, state, or national)
- Must be currently enrolled in a secondary, postsecondary, or college/university HSE program.
- HOSA officers must be nominated by their HOSA advisors who must be ACTE members.
Deadline to apply: Friday, May 1 (11:59 p.m. EST)
Recipients will be notified by May 18 and recognized at the HOSA – International Conference 2026 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

It’s Time to Nominate the Best: 2026 HSE Division Awards
Join us in celebrating excellence in health science education by nominating deserving CTE educators for the 2026 HSE Division Awards. Celebrating excellence in health science education is a highlight of the ACTE VISION Conference, where the HSE Division recognizes outstanding health science career tech educators for their contributions. On May 1, the ACTE Awards Portal for the 2026 HSE Division Awards applications will open and close on Sept. 30.
Please consider nominating a peer or yourself for one or more of the following 2026 HSE Division Awards:
- Award of Merit
- Outstanding Career and Technical Educator Award
- Outstanding New Teacher Award
- Outstanding Service Award
- Teacher of the Year Award
Winners will be notified in mid-October and recognized at the HSE Division’s Opening Session at the 2026 ACTE VISION Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Important Note: Applicants are NOT required to have received either a state or regional ACTE award. The ACTE HSE Division awards are separate from state and regional awards and are only for ACTE members who are in the HSE Division. ACTE’s School Study Visit to the Northern Kane County Regional Vocational System highlights a regional CTE model where districts pool resources to deliver advanced programs and facilities they couldn’t sustain alone. Through a partnership with a community college, students also earn industry credentials and college credit while still in high school. Designed for CTE leaders seeking scalable, cost‑effective solutions, this tour offers practical, real‑world strategies for doing more with less.

Student Trophy Design Contest: Encourage Your Students to Enter!
Invite your students to design the 3D-printed trophies for ACTE’s prestigious Excellence Awards. This hands-on contest highlights creativity, innovation and real-world CTE skills. First-place designers will receive $1,000 scholarship prize for the winning team, a free one-year lease of a 3D printer for the winner’s school, courtesy of Stratasys and more. Submissions are due May 1.
