Summer Quarterly News Update | |
Greetings Health Science Education Division Members! |
I am honored and excited to be starting the first of my three-year term as your Health Science Education (HSE) Division Vice President! I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for this opportunity and my commitment to working collaboratively with you to advance the HSE Division. Last spring, I had the opportunity to shadow Holly Strand-Rysgaard, who was the previous HSE vice president. Holly is an incredible leader who has deep roots in career and technical education (CTE). I learned a tremendous amount from her and am very thankful for her leadership, service, and continued support in the HSE Division.
As we gear up for another exciting school year, I want to briefly share some important things that are further discussed below in this newsletter. First, the HSE Awards Portal contains five award opportunities for our HSE Division members! Three awards were added in an effort to recognize and honor more health science educators who have made significant contributions. Second, the HSE Policy Committee recently voted to support an ACTE HSE Division New Professional for the 2025 Fellowship Program. New professionals are HSE educators with 2-5 years of CTE experience. Third, there is still time to register for the ACTE Careertech VISION Conference that is scheduled Dec. 4–7, in San Antonio, Texas. If you have never been, please consider attending!
Thank you so much for your involvement and commitment to CTE! It truly takes all of us working together to sustain the continued success of this great educational system. By collaborating and focusing on our shared goals, we can achieve great things that ultimately benefit our primary focus: the students. Your dedication is invaluable, and together, we can make a significant impact!
Lastly, please let me know how I can be of service to you! If you have any questions on how to get involved with ACTE and the HSE Division, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you again for the honor of serving as your HSE Division vice president.

Kind regards,
LaDonna Selvidge
