HOSA — Future Health Professionals is under new executive leadership! In July 2025, Bergen Morehouse stepped into the role of executive director for HOSA Future Health Professionals. Many of you already know Bergen as she has recently served for over a decade on the National HOSA team as the director of competitive events. I am excited at the opportunity to work with Bergen as we continue the strong partnership of supporting CTE educators and students across the nation!

HSE Division’s Vice President-Elect Position Update

The HSE Division’s Nominating Committee met in July to review applications for the Vice President-Elect position. After thoughtful discussion, the committee decided not to move any candidates forward for this year’s election. While that can sometimes feel like a pause, it also opens the door for new opportunities next year.

The application process for the HSE Division Vice President will open in spring 2026. We encourage members who are passionate about advancing health science education to consider applying. This is a meaningful role that allows you to help shape the future of the division, connect with colleagues nationwide, and grow as a leader in CTE.

To be considered, applicants must meet the HSE Division requirements, which include:

  • A willingness to promote health science education and ACTE’s strategic priorities.
  • Authorization to dedicate the time needed to effectively carry out the responsibilities of the office.
  • Sustained membership in ACTE.
  • Evidence of leadership in ACTE, with a large percentage of those involved in health science education in the nominee’s state being ACTE members.
  • The ability to make time available and have sufficient clerical/secretarial support to effectively execute the responsibilities of division president.
  • (Recommended) Prior service on one or more ACTE committees, consistent attendance at CareerTech VISION, and active participation in ACTE programs.

If you have any questions about the position or the application process, please don’t hesitate to reach out — I would be glad to help!

On the Road: My Summer Adventures as Your HSE Division Vice President

Over the past few months, I have had the privilege of representing our HSE Division in several exciting ways! In June, I joined the National HOSA team at HOSA’s International Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. While at HOSA-ILC, I had the honor of presenting $500 HSE Division Scholarship awards to two outstanding HOSA state officers: Hunter Brashers and Maddison Norris. HOSA Future Health Professionals and ACTE’s HSE Division share a long-standing, thriving partnership, and it was a joy to work alongside fellow health science educators who are equally passionate about supporting and celebrating students accomplishments!

In early July, I attended the ACTE Board of Directors meeting in Alexandria, Virginia. As the HSE Division Vice President, I serve on the ACTE Board of Directors, along with all other Division and Region Vice Presidents. Each Board meeting leaves me increasingly impressed by ACTE’s organization, strong leadership, and the staff’s unwavering commitment to us – the members. I am also pleased to share that our association is fiscally strong, and the Board remains steadfast in moving the association forward in championing CTE initiatives nationwide.

Later in July, I traveled to College Station, Texas, to represent the HSE Division at the Texas Health Occupations Association’s (THOA) Annual Conference. The THOA Annual Conference was an outstanding event, filled with passionate health science educators dedicated to student success! Special thanks to the THOA executive director, Jackie Uselton, and THOA’s Board members for the warm welcome and opportunity to represent the HSE Division.

In early August, I attended my home state’s CTE annual state conference – OK Summit in Tulsa, Oklahoma. CTE professionals from all over Oklahoma gathered for two days for professional development, leadership growth, and networking opportunities. The OK Summit is always a highlight for me, offering a chance to reconnect with and learn from my CTE family.

Next stop: ACTE's CareerTech VISION in December! I hope to see many of you there!
