HSKWSP Volunteer

INSIDER

Happy February! Love is in the air (the love for our animals that is!) and it's exciting to see so many volunteers back in the centre.

If you don't have the time to read this whole newsletter, please skip to the "Urgent Need for Large Dog Fosters" heading, as that is most pressing at the moment. If you know of anyone that would be interested in becoming a large dog foster, please let them know to apply!

February is Pet Dental Health Month

February is Pet Dental Health month and it is important to think about your pets oral health.

Our medical team handled 120 animal cases related to dental in 2022 (thats basically 1 case every 3 days, holy!).

Regular dental care, both at home and regular veterinary care, is key to help your pet maintain a full set of teeth and pain-free mouth.

URGENT NEED FOR LARGE DOG FOSTERS

GR-Illustration-Animation-2 image

We are in desperate need for large dog fosters. More often than not, the dogs we see in centre are medium to large breed dogs. Please pass this message along to anyone you know that may be interested and tell them to contact Denise!

There is a virtual dog foster course coming up on February 15th and you can contact Diana if you want to sign up or want more information!

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: Betsey & John!

Meet Betsey & John!

Betsey has been volunteering at the Kitchener location since 2009! In 2019, she finally convinced her husband John to join her in volunteering. Both say their favourite part is helping all the kitties. Every Saturday morning, you will find this caring couple working together to keep our cat kennels clean. They say the most surprising part of their role is realizing that every pet, young or old, will find their furrrever home. John and Betsey would like anyone who is considering volunteering to “Do it!!” They both believe that “everyone can make a difference and speak for those little ones that can’t speak for themselves! There are many jobs to be done, and you can find the job that suits you.” After caring for our kitties, John & Betsey go home to their own pets; Penny the Princess (Calico Cat); Clem the Barn Cat, and Fozzie Bear, a Border Collie.
