Former Regulator and Insurance Exec to Work with Firm's Captive Advisory Practice and Affiliate Providing Insurance Company Strategic Risk and Compliance Services

NEW YORK, July 13, 2016 - Hanover Stone Partners, a risk management services firm with expertise in a broad range of critical risk disciplines, today announced the appointment of William P. White as a senior risk advisor. Among the insurance industry's most prominent executives, Mr. White brings more than 35 years of experience in executive management positions for leading insurance and reinsurance companies as well as an insurance regulator with state and federal government authorities.
Mr. White will play a significant role in the firm's Hanover Stone CaptiveGuard (SM) practice, which provides a wide array of governance and related advisory services for captive insurance companies and their parent organizations.
In addition to his position with Hanover Stone Partners, Mr. White will work directly with Hanover Stone Solutions, an affiliate company providing enterprise risk management and ORSA compliance services for insurance companies operating in the U.S.
"Along with challenges of dealing with an increasingly complex risk environment, risk management executives, their captives and commercial insurers also must navigate an evolving regulatory framework both here in the U.S. and internationally," said John J. Kelly, founder and CEO, Hanover Stone Partners. "Bill's extensive experience both as an insurance company leader and regulator bring unique insights and value to our risk management and insurance clients. We're delighted to welcome him to our team and look forward to our work together on behalf of our clients."

William P. White
During a distinguished career, Mr. White has served in management with a number of reinsurers, including: senior vice president and corporate vice president of American Re Corporation; vice president, Munich American Reinsurance Company; and assistant vice president, General Reinsurance Company. In these and similar roles with other insurers, his responsibilities ranged from managing underwriting operations to conducting runoff and remediation negotiations, and providing strategic development and planning for traditional insurance and alternative risk finance markets.
Mr. White also was consulting director, Milliman & Robertson and later formed and led Prism Strategies, LLC. As a consultant, he has developed - and as a regulator, reviewed and licensed - more than 100 captive insurance companies. Notably, he developed the regulatory framework for the Washington, DC captive insurance domicile and directed legislative revisions to update its market capabilities. Similarly, in Delaware, he developed an effective regulatory licensing process and worked with legal and legislative representatives to initiate captive legislation to align the domicile with the state's well-established business capabilities.
From 2011 to 2013, as Washington, DC commissioner of Insurance Securities and Banking, Mr. White developed regulations, statutes and legislation to meet federal requirements under the Dodd-Frank Act and Affordable Care Act. He served on domestic and international committees developing global supervisory standards and was a member of the first Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance.
