For the fourth year, Park Magnet first grade classes enjoyed a “Fancy Friday” event hosted by generous community partners at Special Touch Catering. Debbie Talley and her wonderful crew provided tasty snacks, festive decor, and a memorable lesson in manners at their special event facility across the street from Park. The event is held is in conjunction with the first grade unit on writing, food celebration, and manners. See full story, here.
50 HSWCHS seniors were honored during a NPC Signing Day event for being accepted to attend, receiving scholarships to attend, and/or intent to attend National Park College in Hot Springs. This is the one of the largest groups to have ever received scholarships and/or committed to attend NPC before, thanks to the National Park Promise Scholarship through the National Park Technology Center. See more, here.
The HSSD will host summer Pee Wee Camps for students entering 1st-6th grade for the following athletic activities: Soccer (July 8-10), Cheer/Dance (May 28-30), Football (May 28-30), Volleyball (May 28-30), Baseball/Softball (May 21-23), and Basketball (July 22 - 24). In honor of Global Youth Service Day earlier in April, students across the HSSD completed service projects in schools and the community. Our OVPA Jr. Beta Club dedicated their efforts to creating memorable, educational videos about the importance of recycling. Enjoy a five-part video series, highlighting the importance of recycling items that students frequently collect at school, including plastic bottles, plastic shopping bags, paper, cardboard, and aluminum cans. See all memorable videos, here.
It was in Sept. of 2016 when generous Hot Springs residents passed a millage to allow the  #HSSD  to construct two brand new buildings -- at our Langston Elementary Leadership Academy and the Hot Springs Junior Academy-- and to upgrade/remodel almost every one of the district’s campuses. Over the past 2 1/2 years, we have completed several projects and we are rounding the corner on our new construction, as we approach the end of the current school year. Learn about all project updates, via our Construction Update, here.
This week’s shout out goes to our boys Trojan Soccer Team - who played a true nailbiter game on Friday against Benton. Congrats on your hard work and a GREAT, memorable season. You have set yourselves apart in your teamwork and your discipline. See more of Trojan Good Things - a weekly shout out from HSSD Superintendent Dr. Nehus, here.
