HT In National Spotlight as Roland Martin,

Rev. Jesse Jackson Appear On Campus



With an emphasis on changing voting rights focused on Central Texas capturing national attention, Huston-Tillotson University was in the spotlight as a pair of nationally recognized icons appeared on the HT campus.

 

Wednesday, journalist Roland Martin live streamed his daily digital show ‘Roland Martin Unfiltered’ live from the shadows of the bell tower on the HT Campus. Thursday, civil rights icon Rev. Jesse Jackson spoke to an invited segment of civic and community leaders in the Davage-Durden Student Union.

HT, Manor ISD Host Summer Music Camp



The Huston-Tillotson University Department of Fine Arts and Humanities held its first music camp this week in conjunction with the Manor Independent School District.


The four-day camp was comprised of high school students who arrived on campus daily to receive world-class instruction from members of the HT Music faculty and local musicians and educators from the Austin area. 


The first two days of camp focused on band students, while the final two days shifted to choral students.

How To Watch Commencement Convocation Live


Saturday, August 7, the HT campus comes alive as we celebrate the graduating classes of 2020 and 2021 with our Commencement Convocation.


The 9 a.m. ceremony on the Athletic Field will be streamed live on the University's YouTube page, which you can access by clicking here.


Engineer, physician, advocate and astronaut Dr. Mae Jemison, the first woman of color to go into space, will deliver the commencement address.


The convocation will also recognize honors students from the Class of 2020 and 2021 and the Golden Classes of 1970 and 1971.


Appropriate Covid-19 protocols and safety measures will be in place, with event parking on Chalmers Avenue.

HT Athletics Shines In Classroom



The onset of a global pandemic did not stop the success of Huston-Tillotson University student-athletes in the classroom.


HT student-athletes in five of the ten varsity programs boasted a team GPA over a 3.0 for the 2020-21 academic year.

The countdown continues for the reactivation of the Huston-Tillotson University campus for in-person instruction this fall.


Since March 2020, the HT family has been separated due to the outbreak and on-going affects of the coronavirus.


As we have continued to monitor latest developments and evolving science, HT is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for our campus community to return as one.

Urban Cultural Fest Comes to HT Campus

Labor Day Weekend


Huston-Tillotson University has partnered with the Urban Music Festival to create a new Labor Day Weekend experience on the HT Campus.


The Urban Cultural Fest will be held on campus Friday - Sunday, September 3-5. This year's event has expanded the brand to include Afrocentric aspects of culture to help all to better understand how we arrived to our cultural existence.


Dru Hill, Ginuwine, and Con Funk Shun are among the artists and groups headlining this year's event.
