President Burnette Speaks At
Austin Woman's Club
Huston-Tillotson University President Dr. Colette Pierce Burnette spoke at The Austin Woman's Club Luncheon. The audience learned about the amazing accomplishments of the #GeniusGeneration of students, and the connection between HT and Chateau Bellevue, home of the Austin Woman’s Club.
Ira Hobart Evans, who was a Texas legislator in the 1860s & 1870s who became Speaker of the House, lived at Chateau Bellevue earlier in his life prior to the home being purchased later by the Austin Woman’s Club.
Among his many career accomplishments, Evans later became the longest serving trustee of Huston-Tillotson, as he was in the role for nearly 40 years (1881-1920).
Evans Industrial Hall is named in honor of him and currently houses Huston-Tillotson University's African American Male Teacher Initiative in partnership with Apple.

HT To Host Building Green Justice Forum
Huston-Tillotson University will present the 8th annual Building Green Justice Forum on Tuesday, October 12th, 12:30 pm – 5:00 pm via Whova. This year's theme is “Repair, Regeneration, and Reparations.”
Repair and regeneration have complementary but distinct biological definitions. Repair prevents an injury from spreading and re-establishes basic support; regeneration is a complete renewal of function that restores components by rebuilding them anew. We can envision how both definitions apply to environmental justice work, from science and policy to advocacy and community resilience.
