Culture Fest, Preview Day, Highlights Homecoming Friday

Huston-Tillotson University returned to in-person homecoming events this week for the first time since 2020. The week has showcased the passion, talent, and legacy of HT as evidenced by students past and present while embraced by its future and the community.

Green Door Boutique Opens For HT Students

The Green Door Boutique opened in the Allen-Frazier Residence Hall at Huston-Tillotson University. The partnership with HT, the Austin Links, and Dress For Success Austin provided ladies' clothing, shoes, and accessories for the women of HT to prepare for future success.

Additionally, the mentorship program provides participants with the lifelong skills they need to secure gainful employment, while the Green Door boutique will provide complimentary professional clothing.

Office Of Technology Hosts Tech Talk

The Huston-Tillotson University Office of Information Technology hosted "Tech Talk with Gotham Jungle Industry Rule No. 4080" in the Davage-Durden Student Union.

The event included a panel discussion on how technology continues to change, with new innovations, drones, and gaming.

Topics also included available careers in tech, and the #GeniusGeneration of HT Students were provided the ability to experience emerging tech through gaming experiences.

Dr. Burnette Named Community Champion

Congratulations to Huston-Tillotson University President Dr. Colette Pierce Burnette who was selected as a Community Champion at the Notley’s Inaugural Moontower Ball.

Dr. Burnette was one of eight honorees celebrated for their impact throughout Austin and the Central Texas region.

Black Voters Matter Bus Stops At HT

The Black Voters Matter tour stopped at Huston-Tillotson University today, educating members of the #GeniusGeneration of the power of their voice by registering to vote.

Critically Acclaimed "The 1619 Project" Campus Book Club Selection For February

HT’s Black History Month 4^th Annual Book Club featuring Nikole Hannah-Jones’ The 1619 Project. The event is open to campus and Austin community. 

The read-in is scheduled for Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. via zoom., with log-in data located in the graphic.

The Institute for Justice and Equity at Huston-Tillotson (IJE) will host a free Legal Clinic on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from Noon-2 p.m. in the Davage-Durden Student Union. The event is free and open to the public.

Just because a case is dismissed by a judge does not automatically mean it is removed from the official record. It can have long-term ramifications that can affect a person’s ability to gain future employment, housing, or more. There will be stations for help with driver’s license recovery and expunction and sealing of criminal records.

Former Professional Player Speaks To HT Baseball Team

Former professional baseball player Chris Singleton spoke to the Huston-Tillotson University baseball team during a speaking tour in the Austin area in conjunction with 100 Black Men of Austin.

Singleton, who played six years in the pro ranks, told of his goal to end racism and gave his own powerful personal story. His mother was one of the nine people killed at Mother Emmanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, S.C. in 2015.
