Critically Acclaimed "The 1619 Project" Campus Book Club Selection For February

HT’s Black History Month 4^th Annual Book Club featuring Nikole Hannah-Jones’ The 1619 Project. Event is open to campus and Austin community. 

Both hard copy and e-books are available Feb. 1. Contact Downs-Jones Library for a free copy. The read-in is scheduled for Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. via zoom.

Mister HT Competing In National HBCU Kings Event

Huston-Tillotson University's Mister HT Christian Broussard is competing in the National HBCU Kings Competition in St. Louis, Missouri, with the final events scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m.

The event looks to enhance the leadership skills of males attending HBCUs by creating an infrastructure for leadership that enables them to develop as spokespersons, role models and leaders in their respective universities and communities, while participating in competition to serve as the reigning Mister HBCU.

The Institute for Justice and Equity at Huston-Tillotson (IJE) will host a free Legal Clinic on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from Noon-2 p.m. in the Davage-Durden Student Union. The event is free and open to the public, and HT students are encouraged to attend.

Just because a case is dismissed by a judge does not automatically mean it is removed from the official record. It can have long-term ramifications that can affect a person’s ability to gain future employment, housing, or more. There will be separate stations for help with driver’s license recovery and expunction and sealing of criminal records.

2022 HT Homecoming Schedule Of Events

Huston-Tillotson University will return to on-campus homecoming festivities in 2022 on the beautiful East Austin campus.

This year’s theme is “Back In Full Effect: A fRAMily Reunion,” will be held Sunday Feb. 13 through Saturday, Feb. 19 with a mixture of student and community events.

MCDONALD NAMED WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Congratulations to Huston-Tillotson University women's basketball player Mycah McDonald, who was named as the Red River Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

McDonald scored 30 points and collected nine rebounds in the Lady Rams' 81-73 victory at Jarvis Christian College last week.

The junior guard from Lufkin, Texas made 11-of-16 shots from the field, including five made three-point shots. McDonald also contributed five steals while performing above her season averages of 11.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
