HTHIC2020 in Mendrisio, Switzerland, 6-8 April 2020
The Dates 
We are pleased to announce that registration for the Heritage, Tourism and Hospitality, 4th International Conference - is now open. E arly bird registration ends 15 January 2020. We look forward to meeting you in Mendrisio, in the Italian speaking canton Ticino in Switzerland.
HTHIC2020 will evolve around the theme "Living Heritage and Sustainable Tourism" and bring together researchers, practitioners and policymakers to discuss a spects of preservation, presentation, promotion, profit (in the sense of benefits for all involved) and purpose (well-being and the co-creation of thriving places).
Participants are invited to attend the Processioni della Settimana Santa di Mendrisio: a fascinating example of ‘living’ heritage. The Processioni are currently under evaluation to be included in the UNESCO Lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The Venues

The Gazebo is a temporary structure. It serves the organisation of the Processioni and presents, for example, the costumes and props of the characters of the Procession of Holy Thursday. The Gazebo will be the venue of one of the pre-conference seminars on 6 April 2020.

The Teatro dell’architettura - t he Theater of the Architecture in Mendrisio - is the conference venue for conference day 1 (7 April 2020). It was designed by Botta and constructed in 2013-2017.

Hotel Serpiano in Serpiano, the venue for conference day 2 (8 April 2020), is nestled between Lake Lugano and Monte San Giorgio and offers beautiful views.

The People
ETC's Eduardo Santander at HTHIC2020
We are delighted that Eduardo Santander will join us in Mendrisio. Mr Santander is the Executive Director of the European Travel Commission (ETC), an association of National Tourism Organisations (NTOs) created in 1948 to promote Europe as a tourism destination.
HTHIC2020 Chair Silvia De Ascaniis
Silvia De Ascaniis is a researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Communication Sciences at USI-Università della Svizzera italiana and one of the two chairs of the HTHIC2020 Scientific Conference Board. She is the coordinator of the UNESCO Chair in ICT to develop and promote sustainable tourism in World Heritage Sites, established at USI.
HTHIC2020 Speaker Daniele Albisetti
Geologist Daniele Albisetti is the Site Manager of the  UNESCO World Heritage site Monte San Giorgio . He will host one of the HTHIC2020 "Special Sessions on Location".
