Tip from the Training Room Collaborative Work Culture

What comes to mind when you hear "collaborative work culture"? How is that differ from what others in your organization think? Is it possible to come up with some shared agreement on what are the key components to a collaborative work culture? Our friends in Prestonsburg KY participated in a workshop to answer that question. Planning in Action City of Georgetown, Texas

Leading your first workshop can be nerve-racking, but preparation and partnering up can help build your confidence. Recently the HueLife team traveled to Georgetown, TX for a ToP Facilitation training. Shortly after we returned, Sabrina and Cindy sent us an email sharing their story of how they facilitated a successful Action Planning workshop. We asked them a few questions about their experience and here's what they said;

What did you find helpful in using the Action Planning framework? Having a platform already set up for a productive meeting. Instead of a scattered brainstorming session, Cindy and I were able to use the tools learned in class and have an organized board set up and ready for use. We were able to drive the discussion towards producing the clusters which eventually created the clearly defined “to do’s”   What were you anxious about? Facilitating a class with coworkers & having “skin in the game” – making it very hard to stay neutral and not give input.   What lessons did you learn? When someone in the discussion wants to make a change and may have a stronger personality, taking the time to make eye contact with the others to ask “do you agree with this change?”…..allowing everyone a platform to be involved and feel heard. We all have a different perspective and by allowing everyone a chance to give input, the outcome of the entire project is better because of this. Nice job Sabrina and Cindy! We look forward to hearing more!

HueLife is partnering with Fusion Learning to convene learning and action planning workshop on digital equity and inclusion. The workshop is designed to not only build awareness and understanding of the issue and current efforts, but to also identify and activate shared strategies for a more comprehensive and collaborative approach among the public, private and civic sector. The workshop is scheduled to take place on Monday, November 15th at the St. Paul RiverCentre in conjunction with the 40th annual Government IT Symposium, the nation’s longest running professional development event for those in the government tech space and their partners.
