Bloomberg Philanthropies grants a $32.8 million gift to the HUCM to support medical students.

The College of Medicine received a historic $32.8 million gift from Bloomberg Philanthropies in support of its medical students with financial need. This gift will go a long way in advancing the ability of African American students to achieve their goals of joining the ranks of service to the many underserved communities in this nation.

Through this very thoughtful award, there will be the opportunity to reduce the debt burden of students graduating from the college and thereby affording them the opportunity to not only serve in primary care specialties, but to also pursue certain subspecialties that are lacking among at risk minorities.

Additionally, the gift will positively impact the College’s ability to support more students going forward.
We Made the Call. You answered within two weeks! Thank you Alumni!

COVID-19 Emergency Student Fund
Eleven HUCM students received critical assistance with food, shelter and medical expenses.

To the Howard University Medical Alumni:
"As a rising 4th year, the COVID-19 pandemic has unexpectedly impacted
my financial responsibilities.
Your financial generosity has allowed me to be one step closer to my goal and has inspired me to help others by giving back to the community.
I hope in the near future, as a physician, I will be able to help other students achieve their goal just as you have helped me."
Sincerely,

"My family is honored and grateful to receive this fund to help our financial needs. God answered our prayers.
I hope to join the alumni association after I graduate from Howard Medical School and learn to give back just as much as HUMAA has given to my family."
With much love,

"I cannot begin to express my gratitude for your quick response to those students needing assistance during these difficult times. The effects of the coronavirus pandemic have been far reaching for many students. As you all know, many of us have had to significantly change our summer plans due to COVID-19. This summer I was expected to do research in infectious disease. The HUMAA grant came at a time when I truly needed it most and I am very grateful for the consideration and time given by you all to do everything you could to help. I hope to live up to the standard of excellence you all before us have set."
 With Gratitude,

Report A Passing
As time goes by, we lose more and more Alumni. We make every attempt to keep a list of those who have passed from this life, but we are not always informed. We believe we have come up with a great solution! If you know of a HUCM alumnus who has passed away, please
