Hoboken is reviving the agency it used years ago to save its hospital, once again suspecting that the facility’s survival is at risk.
That agency, the Hoboken Municipal Hospital Authority (HMHA), would oversee the operations of the hospital if it was purchased by the city. CarePoint Health, the Hoboken University Medical Center’s current operator, publicly announced it planned to sell the hospital last year, but the sale to RWJBarbabas was never completed.
The City Council voted unanimously Wednesday, November 4th, to take the necessary steps to bring the dormant HMHA up to current state standards.
