August, 2022
Greetings,

Hello August!

It's hard to believe that fall is just around the corner and kids are going back to school. Are you looking forward to getting back to a normal routine? While saying goodbye to summer is bittersweet, I'm eager for some cooler weather.

You may notice that I have company this month! Brad has been working hard for us since last fall, so thought it was finally time for a little recognition.

Through the COVID-19 pandemic, we witnessed a change in the workplace as people all over the world voluntarily decided to leave their jobs. We called this trend the Great Resignation. But are we ready for what's next? As baby boomers begin to retire and take their years of wisdom and experience along with them, we are finding an immediate need to embrace digital transformation and create solid succession plans. Continue reading to find out what we can do now to overcome what's to come, the Great Retirement.

Digital Twinning in Buildings Goes Well Beyond the Digital
At first glance, NASA and commercial real estate have little in common. Yet in strategizing for a more efficient future, outer space and built space aren’t all that different. To advance their respective galactic and environmental endeavors, both utilize the same technology: digital twins...

As interactive models of buildings, operational twins can therefore help companies adopt the best practices for maximizing a building’s efficiency — a boon to sustainability efforts. Twins can map, track, and quantify flow patterns, access points and energy consumption, which help buildings react accordingly and quickly to changing environmental needs.

Elon Musk confirms HVAC is on Tesla's future products list
After leading the electric vehicle segments with some exciting cars and providing energy storage solutions like the Powerwall, Elon Musk's Tesla will also work to provide heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) solution for residential owners in the future CEO himself tweeted...

An entire ecosystem of products that would help keep the customers loyal to the company would work in tandem, as Musk said in this tweet from 2020. Musk also has eyed the "pure, fresh water" that cooling units end up condensing from the ambient air only to dump it on the ground

How Succession Planning Can Help Combat the Great Retirement
We’ve likely all heard of the Great Resignation by now, but there’s another prominent hiring trend lurking behind the scenes: the Great Retirement. With 75 million Baby Boomers retiring by 2030, the Great Retirement is on course to supersede the Great Resignation as the most significant workforce trend of 2022...

A primary concern of this mass wave of retirement is the loss of institutional knowledge between generations. Twenty-three percent of FMs have worked in the field for more than 20 years, and the worry is that their troves of veteran knowledge will retire alongside them.
