Staff Appreciation Week

Our Seuss-tastic Staff Appreciation Week is this week! SAW kicks off Monday morning with a heapity-heap of breakfast treats donated by Hermosa families. Oh, what a breakfast they'll eat! A huge thanks to the many families who signed up!

And, if you didn't get a chance to sign up, it's not too late! There are still a few slots open and you can bring whatever delicious creation you'd like to share. Sign up here!

Our Room Parents have also planned lots of fun ways to recognize our staff throughout the whole week. So keep your eyes peeled—don’t snooze, don’t derail—for all of the details in your Room Parent email!

And, of course, don't forget to remind your students to take a moment to let their teachers and staff know how much they are truly appreciated. Let them know that we appreciate them in the spring, and we appreciate them in the fall. But we appreciate them each and every day, most of all!!

Memorial Day Pkg Lot Fundraiser

We know you may have spent over six hours—if not the entire weekend—living your best adult life at BeachLife while Grandma took one (...or more) for the team. Now that you’ve gotten that out of your system, does a mere two hours of adulting at our Memorial Day Weekend Parking Lot Fundraiser (May 23–25) really feel like too big a lift?

Let’s be honest: the BeachLife main stage is basically a giant parking lot anyway. Bring a boombox and you might not even notice the difference. It’s actually fun, and you can bring your kids of all ages. Show them the responsible adult you sometimes are! Middle Schoolers who join you even earn 8 Service Points.

So SIGN UP HERE and help us raise $12,000 for Hermosa schools this Memorial Day Weekend and make Grandma proud!

Middle School Honor Roll

Last Friday, the school district sent invitations to the Honor Roll Breakfast to the 299 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students that qualify for the upcoming Honor Roll Breakfast on May 28th. All middle school students that received a 3.5 or higher on their 1st AND 2nd trimester report card qualify for the Honor Roll.

The Honor Roll Breakfast Committee is hard at work to celebrate this group of 299 students for all their hard work. Please sign up HERE to volunteer at the event and/or donate breakfast food items.

The gift card raffle is always a big highlight for the Honor Roll students and we would like to do it again. We need gift card donations for places like Starbucks, Amazon, local restaurants, local surf shops, Nike, Dicks, Sephora, etc. ($10-$100 denominations). Or you can venmo money towards gift cards that the committee will purchase on your behalf. Please contact Christine Shultz for drop off/venmo information.

Back to School Picnic 2026 Is (Almost) Back!

The HVPTO Back to School Picnic is back this September, and we need YOU to help make it happen! This beloved annual tradition brings together Valley, Vista, and Valley families to kick off the school year with food, fun, and community.

We are currently looking for new local businesses & organizations who are interested in participating! Reserve a table to share your programs, services, and enrichment opportunities with our school community. Email backtoschoolpicnic@hvpto.com to get on the list!

Want to get involved behind the scenes? We're looking for volunteers to join the planning committee. It's a great way to connect with other school families and help create a memorable evening for everyone.

Stay tuned for the confirmed September date and more details. Questions? Reach out at backtoschoolpicnic@hvpto.com.

HOH26 ⚓️ Volunteers Needed

Hearts of Hermosa is this Saturday, May 9th, and we need your help! It takes a village to make this voyage a success, and every single volunteer slot needs to be filled.

We have several critical roles to fill over the event weekend:

  • Saturday Strong Arms (May 9): We specifically need help with heavy lifting to set up our entrance display, hang banners, and place the "step and repeat" signage.
  • General Setup & Cleanup (May 9-10): Even if you can’t stay for an entire shift, please pop in for as long as you can — every bit of help makes a massive difference!
  • DADS NEEDED (May 10): We’re calling on you to lead the charge on Sunday so the Moms can enjoy their mornings. Grab the age-appropriate kids and head over for some doughnuts and coffee while you help us with the cleanup and the U-Haul load-out. It’s the perfect way to support our schools while giving the Moms in your lives a well-deserved break.
  • Auction Redemption (May 11-13): Help us get items into the winning bidders hands!

Please complete one survey for each child enrolled in our district. The survey should take approximately 15-20 minutes, and all responses are anonymous. Please click here to take the survey.
