| | Help Bring School Counselors to 100% | | |
HBEF is bridging the gap to move our Hermosa View and Vista counselors from part-time (80%) to 100% full-time status for the 2026-2027 school year. Our goal is 3 full-time counselors on-site daily to support all 1,450 students!
🌟 Counselor Spotlight: Sabrina Okuda
Ms. Okuda has made a tremendous impact on the Hermosa View community through her compassion, leadership, and dedication to students’ social-emotional growth. From leading engaging PBIS SURF lessons on kindness, leadership, and active listening to organizing meaningful schoolwide experiences like our first Career Day, she helps create a positive, connected culture where every student feels supported and valued.
Deadline: Donate HERE by June 7th to help us get to 100%!
Together, we can make Hermosa schools stronger!

There's still time to vote for HBEF! Our generous Community Partner, Lazy Acres, is selecting partners for their Envirotokens program for next year. (If you’ve shopped at Lazy Acres, you’ve seen this program in action: Shoppers receive a token for each reusable bag they bring into the store and they can deposit those tokens into the box for the organizations they wish to support.)
Over the last school year, HBEF has earned over $1,200 — just from Envirotokens! We need YOUR help to keep HBEF included as an Envirotokens partner for next year: VOTE for HBEF today!
Please spread the word to all of your friends, family, and neighbors, too! Voting closes June 2nd.

This is a 3-person scramble with both a competitive tier and a social tier. So if you’re good at golf, let’s get after it 🔥 And if you’re not good at golf… let’s get after it too 🍻
Two teams play together, so rally your crew and get your friends to sign up alongside you for the full experience.

Join your fellow South Hermosa neighbors for a beach clean up on June 20th from 1-2pm & June 22nd from 10-11am! Led by three of your local 7th Grade Girl Scouts, we will briefly meet to share some basic ocean safety tips we learned through Junior Life Guards, and then proceed to clean up the beach between Tower 2 (2nd Street) and TK Tower (1st Street). Help us to keep our sea plastic free!
We encourage you to bring gloves to wear and buckets to collect trash. Don’t worry, we will have extra supplies on hand for those who need it. Just for fun, we
will be giving out gift cards to some local South Hermosa restaurants for our neighbors that collect the most trash! This is a family friendly event supported by Heal the Bay Adopt-a-Beach and we encourage all ages to join in helping to clean up our neighborhood beach! We hope to see you there!
