NO DELAYS IN TRASH & RECYCLING PICKUP

There are no delays in trash pickup after Christmas or New Year's holidays. Trash and recycling should be at the curb by 7 am on Tuesdays, as usual.
CARDBOARD RECYCLING RECEPTACLE

An easy place to bring clean, empty cardboard that won't fit into your curbside bin - perfect for those large gift boxes. Please flatten whenever possible

The large “dumpster” type receptacle is behind the Library and near the tennis courts. It will remain until after New Year.

Please mind the one-way traffic there, and be extra careful driving near the school and Rec Center.

(Note: Troy piloted this holiday collection program in 2021 and took in 6 tons of cardboard. How many tons could HW collect? )
YARD WASTE COLLECTION HAS ENDED

The curbside pickup of bagged yard waste has ended for the year, resuming again on April 4, 2023. SOCRRA will accept up to 10 bags of yard waste at its facility in Troy (see socrra.org for details). Please note that yard waste includes the food scraps bins.
CHIPPING OF BRANCHES RESUMES

The DPW resumed its chipping service immediately after leaf season, and is now on its regular schedule of Wednesday chipping. Please note t the chipper is meant for larger branches, minimum two inch diameter and at least four feet in length. Not only is the small stuff dangerous to feed into the chipper, but it impairs the DPW's ability to get through the City in one day.

Weather permitting, DPW will be going around every Wednesday to collect Christmas trees for chipping. Residents can place them at the curb Tuesday evenings for collection.

SEWER LINING UPDATE

Our contractor Lanzo has been lining certain portions of sewer in the City. This is a long-lasting repair method that eliminates the need to dig up sewers and destroy landscaping and trees. Each affected home will receive a gold-colored door hanger to notify the resident about the work. Please read it carefully and call Lanzo’s number on the door hanger with any questions or concerns. The project should be completed in a couple of weeks, but each affected home should only have one day of inconvenience (mainly minimizing water use during the one day). Most homes in the City will not be affected at all. Those with lots where sewer excavations need to take place will be contacted on an individual basis.
