Going Paperless
Paperless Tuesday Folders are Coming!

As part of the Hunters Woods PTA continued efforts to 'Go Green' and reduce our impact on the environment, this year we will take our Paperless Tuesday Folders a step further: all PTA flyers will be paperless unless you request otherwise.  Beginning in October, each week, instead of getting the PTA flyers in your student's Tuesday Folder, you will only get official school flyers, completed school work or items that are specific to the classroom.  There will be a "Tuesday Folder" page on the PTA website, a weekly E-news (sign up at and Facebook page link to all flyers that were included in the Tuesday Folders that week.  Benefits of this program include:less paper (thousands of dollars in savings that can go to PTA programs, student scholarships, & teacher support etc.; less volunteer time necessary to copy/stuff Tuesday Folders; less papers sent home for you to sort through; easily accessible website with an address you can bookmark and link to each week; infinite access to flyers that may have normally been misplaced; a
concrete example for our children of ways in which we can protect our environment.  Thank you for supporting this effort!

Lego League Needs Coaches!!!!

Love to Build Things?  Looking for a way to be more involved? Coach a Lego League Team!

No previous experience or special knowledge is required, just the willingness to guide and mentor a group of enthusiastic kids who will tackle the FIRST Lego League Challenge and participate in the regional tournament.

The Challenge consists of:

1. Designing and programming an autonomous robot (using the LEGO´┐Ż MINDSTORMS´┐Ż robot set) to score points on a thematic playing surface,

2. Creating and presenting an innovative solution to a problem,

3. All while demonstrating team spirit, professionalism and cooperativeness.

Coaches need to meet with the team for two hours, twice a week for no more than 9 weeks and attend the tournament.  If you have patience, a sense of humor and seek a rewarding experience, don't let this opportunity slip past you.

Room Parents Needed

Help Make the Classroom That Much Better!

Welcome back to school!!  As you meet your children's new teachers and visit their classrooms, please consider signing up to be a room parent or classroom volunteer.  Ask your teacher if he or she has a sign-up form?  Missed orientation day?  No worries!  You may find a sign-up in the classroom at back-to-school night or you can always send an email to your teacher!  Our teachers work hard all year and the support of their parents is greatly appreciated!  Don't want to go solo?  Find a friend to volunteer with you!  Want to meet new parents?  Being a room parent or classroom volunteer is a great way to get to know other parents and helps you get to know your teacher even better!  Questions on what's involved?  Don't hesitate to contact me, Bonnie Silas, PTA Room Parent Coordinator, at  All room parents should send me an email letting me know they have signed up and for which teacher!  This will allow me to contact you with updates on school activities and also lets me know which teachers still need volunteers.  Thank you for your support!  Have a great year!!
