Employer Spotlight: ✨MCL ✨

MCL Construction – Skills for Success

We are proud to partner with MCL Construction to help connect job seekers to careers in construction. This partnership began in September during a conversation with MCL, where we shared information about WIOA-funded On-the-Job Training opportunities. Since then, our goal as a referral source has been to connect both WIOA participants and individuals seeking construction employment directly with MCL.

MCL’s goal is to support justice-involved individuals in gaining access to meaningful careers in construction. A recent Wednesday evening training focused on hands-on experience using construction tools. Participants included young adults referred by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Youth and Family Engagement Specialist, including one individual enrolled in the WIOA Youth program.

Notably, the MCL staff leading the training are individuals who were formerly incarcerated and are now in management and leadership roles within the company—demonstrating what’s possible when opportunity and talent meet.

Why This Matters to Employers

Partnerships like this show how employers, workforce programs, and community partners can work together to expand the talent pipeline. By combining hands-on training, WIOA-funded supports, and fair-chance hiring practices, employers can access motivated candidates, reduce hiring risk, and build stronger, more inclusive teams—while meeting real workforce needs in the construction industry.

✨Employer Spotlights✨

Every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, our doors are open for Employer Spotlight events at both HWS locations and at the Highlander on Thursdays.

These sessions give employers a dedicated time to meet job seekers one-on-one, share open opportunities, and build stronger community connections.

If your organization is hiring and wants more visibility, this is a simple and effective way to engage local talent. We promote each Spotlight on our website, social media, and in our centers to help you meet motivated candidates.
