We help kids find safe passage
  In Memoriam – Tristan Peer

All of us were shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the untimely passing of Tristan in a tragic farming  accident. Tristan lived his life exemplifying values that he learned from his family – hospitality,  generosity, adventure, and passion. Anyone who knew Tristan found his energy and enthusiasm for life  contagious. He learned of our program a couple of years ago and immediately got his family involved to
talk about programmatic needs and possible expansion of services. They also brought in a chef to work  with our youth in preparing healthy and nutritious meals.

Tristan’s leadership inspired many...whether giving back through our program, the Boy Scouts, or being  politically active. Professionally, Tristan parlayed his many talents into entrepreneurial opportunities  including working with his father’s custom kitchen construction business, developing his own company,  and selling real estate. Tristan’s long-term dream was to develop a nonprofit of his own to assist youth  who were less fortunate than himself.

We are humbled that Tristan’s family chose to remember him by having donations in lieu of flowers  directed to us. These donations will be restricted to our kitchen renovation and his name will be incorporated into our mural in recognition of donors to the kitchen campaign.

Day of Shopping
Another fun fashion event will take place on Wednesday, June 14.  Talbots will host a day of shopping for HYS. On May 11, HYS attended the Mother’s Day special SpaPop event at Beaver Brook Country Club. This event attracts many different vendors who want to promote their businesses….free massages, facials and food was offered to the attendees.  Many vendors donated items to the silent auction, 100% of the proceeds was donated to HYS.  The next SpaPop event will take place on Thursday, June 15 at Beaver Brook Country Club from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
On Monday, May 15 over 95 golfers joined HYS at Stanton Ridge Golf & Country Club for our 3rd annual golf outing.  The proceeds from the silent auction of over 50 sports memorabilia and other treasures will help to fund therapeutic  programs that directly benefit our residents at the group home.

J & J Day of Caring
On May 3, 2017 Hunterdon Youth Services welcomed a team of Johnson and Johnson employees for a Day of Caring. The group volunteered several hours of their time to paint the resident bedrooms. Thanks to them, the rooms now have a fresh coat of paint and a new look!  Thank you, J&J!
Board Member Spotlight - Carolyn Evans

Carolyn joined our Board of Trustees in 2013 and since that time has immersed herself in strengthening the organization and raising awareness about us in the broader community. She has served in various leadership positions for the last several years including Vice Chair of the Operating Board and Chair of the Fundraising Committee. Carolyn has also served as one of the Chairs of our Golf Outing for the last three years as well as Co-Chair of our Comedy Night. Carolyn is passionate about the youth and families that we serve and lends an attentive ear to the issues impacting them.

Carolyn also serves on our Finance Committee something that parlays her many years of work in the finance industry to our advantage. Carolyn has also played various roles as a small business owner as well as contributing her experience in the family business of Evans Worldwide. However, if you really want to see Carolyn’s eyes light up, just ask her about her family. She and her husband Jim have been married for more than 30 years and her eyes will dance with merriment as she shares with you the story of their courtship and the pride she feels in being married to someone as principled as Jim.

Carolyn’s kids were her focus throughout their childhood and adolescence and now that they are grown she feels fortunate to have the time to give back – recognizing the blessings that she has and hoping to impart some of that good fortune on the youth served by HYS.

Thank you for all you do, Carolyn!
