Here is a quick Q&A regarding similar topics we discuss in the full interview.

Hamilton Youth Workforce
"From your organizations stand point, can you identify barriers for employers when hiring youth?"

Erin Goetz
"From working at the Xperience Annex I find that youth in Hamilton would benefit from government subsidy programs that support business in hiring our youth.  Another important point is to offer positions that pay a living wage.  Employers need  to see the value in hiring youth.

Youth voices add a different and valuable perspective to the workplace.  As an example, we have our youth engagers participate in all of our team meetings and see them as full members of our team.  The input that they provide is valued on the same level as any other member of our team. We try to be as inclusive as possible."

Talking about construction is one thing – but seeing it is a whole other story. In a newly released video, Metrolinx shows how the different phases of construction will work when shovels hit the ground for the Hamilton LRT.

Design and preliminary works are ramping up on the Hamilton light rail transit (LRT) line to get everything ready for when construction starts.

But what exactly is involved in the construction of a modern light rail transit line?

The video below takes you through the steps required to transform the roadway from the existing state — designed primarily to move cars — into a modern transit corridor.

Careerwise: 3 Reports That Caught Our Eye in July 2022
CareerWise is always on the lookout for the latest reports related to career development. Here are three reports that we found interesting this week.

There is a rapidly intensifying human resource crisis in non-profits delivering care, which means longer wait times, gaps in services and intense pressure on organizations to take on more with less. This paper outlines eight solutions to make wage parity a reality.

This study shows that 2010 to 2018 graduates were less likely to receive CERB payments than the general working population overall; however, those who graduated with a college-level certificate or a college-level diploma in 2018 were more likely to have received the CERB than the “all workers” category.
