Could Tiny Homes be the answer to the affordable housing problem in Canada?
British Columbia and Alberta are leading the way and have modified their bylaws to allow tiny home living. Municipal governments across Canada are realizing the versatility of this tiny asset and working to change legislation in an effort to help ease the massive shortage of affordable housing.
What is a Tiny Home?🤔
A tiny home is a living space that is under 500 square feet.

Why go Tiny? 🏠
These eco-friendly homes provide an affordable option for everyone, especially for those who have lost their homes or have been priced out of conventional housing markets. They are also becoming a viable option to help combat homelessness.
How is Habitat involved? 🔨
We see a future for tiny homes as an affordable housing solution and we are working on an exciting new program that will bring together our Corporate donors and our local schools which offer skilled trades classes. Together, they will build affordable housing for our first nations partner, Chippewas of Nawash in the Bruce Peninsula. This program will empower our youth to build upon their educational experience by gaining hands-on, skilled-trades construction opportunities, in addition to positively impacting our First Nations communities in Ontario.
