January 2019
From all of us here at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA), Happy New Year!  As we look forward to the year ahead, we want to thank the volunteers, donors and advocates who continually support us. Each of you plays a critical role in helping to create a world where everyone has a decent place to live. We are especially grateful for the many generous donors who helped to raise more than $800,000 this past December. These gifts will change the lives of many families as we continue to build homes and hope throughout greater Los Angeles. We are looking forward to another exciting year and are incredibly thankful for all the individuals, congregations and companies that continue to support our mission.

Adopt-a-Family 2018
The holidays can be an expensive time for hardworking families. Stretching the budget to find presents for everyone on their list can often mean scrimping on basic necessities like food. That’s why we started our annual Adopt-A-Family event: to provide families with a hand up during the holiday season.

Our 2018 Holiday Party
Takes Flight
Our annual holiday party, held December 12 at El Segundo’s Flight Path Museum, brought together all the people who make Habitat LA so successful. Donors, volunteers, and staff members spread some holiday cheer as jumbo jets took off and landed on the nearby LAX runway.

Meet the 2018-2019
Habitat LA AmeriCorps
Habitat LA’s 2018-2019 class of AmeriCorps spent a day last month at Food Forward, a food pantry in the Watts neighborhood, sorting and distributing fresh organic produce to families in need. “It’s part of Habitat LA’s efforts to get our AmeriCorps involved in the community beyond building houses,” says Caitlin Rose, Associate Director of Volunteer Services, and a former AmeriCorps member herself.

Making the Most
Of a Small Kitchen
Nearly every homeowner experiences a problem with finding enough storage, especially in the kitchen. Fortunately, there are several ways to find space you may be overlooking. If you are thinking about making changes in your kitchen, start by visiting one of our Habitat LA ReStores.
