Habitat Happenings | January 2019
Hello from our Executive Director
Dear Friend of Habitat,

Happy new year! As we exit the holiday season, we quickly enter the season for resolutions and goals. At Habitat Lakeside, we are focusing on goals because we believe resolutions are too short lived. Here are a few of our 2019 goals we want to share with you:
  • Sell homes to three families through our Home Buyer Program
  • Complete seven repairs through our Home Repair Program
  • Complete a two-day Rock the Block Event (Fall)
  • Share and launch a new five-year strategic plan (Spring)
  • Launch a Faith Build month (May)
  • Bring as many new volunteers & donors into the Habitat Family as possible!

We certainly have a busy year ahead with all that we hope to achieve, and it all starts with sharing our goals in this first newsletter of the new year. As you read on, be sure to consider how your new years resolutions and goals fit in with our needs. In particular, pay attention to our:
  • Open Application Period: refer a family or apply yourself
  • Recruitment of team members for the Habitat 500 Bike Ride: endurance event, anyone?
  • ReStore donation pick-up: are you remodeling in 2019? Reuse, repurpose, recycle and schedule a donation pick-up through our ReStore.
  • Volunteer Needs: many opportunities await for donating time as an individual, family or with a group of friends, co-workers, church members etc...)

Finally, another piece of news that I want to share is that our longest standing team member, Jon Hoffman, is departing our organization at the end of February for another opportunity. Jon has poured his heart and soul into Habitat Lakeside for nearly five years and will truly be missed by staff and volunteers alike. With his departure, we are searching for a new addition to our team to assume the role of Construction Manager. Please check out the job posting details below and consider applying for or sharing the opportunity with someone you think might be a good fit for the position.

Blessings for a happy and healthy new year!

Sincerely,

Sarah Beckman
