Habitat Happenings | September 2019
Hello from our Executive Director
Dear Friend of Habitat,

It is hard to believe that summer is ending and the start of fall is just around the corner. With the change in seasons comes a busy time for Habitat. We have several events comings up including an Affordable Housing Event put on by our Board of Directors, a 3-day Rock the Block event, a Home Dedication and our annual signature fundraiser, "Tooling Through the Twenties" Gala. We are also excited to be the host-county for the 2019 Wisconsin Statewide Habitat for Humanity Affiliate Conference this fall. This months newsletter is full of volunteer opportunities and event sign-up information to support all that is going on with Habitat. You'll also find information on an opportunity to join the Habitat Lakeside team, new bulk donations for sale in the ReStore and staff bios for two new employees. We hope you enjoy reading all of our updates and can join us at one of our many upcoming events!

Sincerely,

Volunteer Spotlight

Each newsletter we want to highlight some of our volunteers who contribute countless hours to our mission. Heidi Hediger, who was recognized as our top volunteer at our Volunteer Appreciation Event, contributed over 750 volunteer hours alone in the ReStore last year. Wow!! When asked what her favorite part about volunteering at Habitat was, Heidi said “I like to help, to be able to do something and be proud of it. I actually learn a lot from volunteering.” Thank you, Heidi, for all you do to contribute to our Mission!

Welcome to Two New Employees

In the last two months, we have welcomed two new faces to the Habitat for Humanity Lakeside team. In July, Karina Berdyck joined our organization as our Family Services Manager, and in August, Rachel Lederer joined our organization to do a year of service as an AmeriCorps VISTA member. Learn more about each of these ladies below!
Meet Karina! She's our new Family Services Manager. Karina works with individuals and families interested in applying for any of our housing programs. Once approved into a program, Karina also originates loans and ensures sweat equity requirements are met. She is the biggest fan and advocate for any individual or family partnering with us to buy a home or have a repair completed. If you'd like to reach out to Karina to welcome her to the Habitat team, you can contact her at 920-458-3399 ext. 305 or [email protected].
Meet Rachel! She's a recent college graduate who has chosen to complete a year of service as an AmeriCorps VISTA member with us. During her year of service, she'll be helping us develop a formal crew leader recruitment program, become a Veterans Build affiliate and help increase our capacity to raise more money to support our housing programs. If you'd like to reach out to Rachel to welcome her to the Habitat team, you can contact her at 920-458-3399 ext. 307 or [email protected].
