Committees that we would love more volunteers on are
Family Support and Family Selection.
Family Support committee
is responsible for identifying social and economic problems facing families, and identifying potential community resources to address those problems, as well as providing moral support and appropriate assistance to client-families following their selection for home ownership, and including involvement beyond the family's occupation of their home. The committee should provide referrals to available community resources like; financial planning, tax preparation, available community health care, employment and educational resources, local nutrition, child care, parenting and food bank programs, in an effort to help client-families break the poverty cycle. This committee is also responsible for creating policies and procedures that implement a Family Partner program, and providing a Partner for each family, and oversight of the Family Partner relationship. This committee is responsible for maintaining an accounting of "sweat equity" hours performed by client families.
Family Selection committee
is responsible for drafting selection criteria and application forms, for submission to the Board of Directors for their approval. Upon adoption of these forms, the committee is responsible for soliciting potential client-families, screening applicants, interviewing prospective families, and recommending families for pre-qualification.
