In Remembrance of President Jimmy Carter
President Carter has supported Habitat for Humanity since 1984, when he and his wife worked at a Habitat site in Americus, Georgia. For more than 35 years, President and Mrs. Carter have traveled across the world with Habitat, donating their time and voices to build and improve homes alongside Habitat homeowners and volunteers. President and Mrs. Carter have worked alongside more than 104,000 volunteers in 14 countries to build, renovate or repair 4,390 homes.
On December 29, 2024, President Carter passed peacefully in his home in Plains, Georgia. He was 100 years old. To honor his legacy, Louisville Habitat and other Habitat affiliates around the world displayed memorial doors for the public to sign.
Thank you President Carter for the countless doors you've opened for others through your service! What a life you've lived and what a legacy you've left!
