Blog: Youth Transforming Macomb Habitat
Youth is happy because it has the ability to see beauty. Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old . - Franz Kafka
I love this quote. And I embrace the young people who join our team, volunteer on site, and creatively address our challenges. They see the world through different glasses.

Take Chaos, one of our internal assistants - or Damon, a ReStore Manager. I rarely hear them complain or become frustrated. Why? Because they see the world in a beautiful way.
Dedication Ceremony Celebrates Veterans for Home #151
Sponsors, contractors, township officials, trades people and volunteers gathered at 42525 Stepnitz in Clinton Township in December to celebrate the completion of a new home built for a veteran family, John and Jacquelyn Marini. No government grants were used on the home, so a lot of different partners were needed. The home began with a desire by Don Cameron, President & CEO, Hardparts Division, Rheinmetall Automotive, to connect his employees with community service. They began employee donations and sought matching funds, to a total well over $40,000 to get started. They built the walls on their parking lot in Auburn Hills and volunteered on site. BAE Systems, Inc. joined the effort with funding and volunteers, refining the goal to help a veteran family. Also on the list of donors were AT&T, Habitat Grosse Pointe Partners, Home Depot, PNC Bank and Trinity Lutheran (Clinton Twp). Great help with gift in kind contributions were Denek Contracting, Edward C Levy Co., IBEW Local 58 Electrical Workers & NECA, Lehner & Associates, Lowe’s Inc., Progressive Plumbing Supply, Prudential Building Co., UAW Local 98 Plumbers Union and WG Heating and Cooling.
Also speaking at the ceremony was Clinton Township Supervisor, Bob Cannon. This home was the 50th home completed in partnership with Clinton Township since 1996, and the 28th in the Colchester Farms neighborhood since 2005.

Volunteers Move Veteran Family Closer to the Finish Line
Two teams of volunteers worked before and after the Dedication Ceremony on Stepnitz in Clinton Township to move that project along. The first team worked on a punch list of items to prepare the home for occupancy – painting trim, getting closets ready and more. The second team took advantage of reasonable weather to build a ramp to the side entrance, to enable easier access to the home. Some inspections and paperwork remain, but we are hopeful for a January move-in for the family. A sincere thank you to every volunteer and donor who has helped us move this project along!
