Members of the Denton Quilt Guild were in attendance at the Dedication Ceremony to present five different quilts made for each member of the Miller family and their home.

A special thank you to Barbara and Ernie McCraw for their dedication to making quilts for our homeowners. Further thank yous to:

  • Jean Goodfriend who supplied the blocks for Carla's quilt and so much donated fabric,
  • Patti Horak who made son Austin's quilt,
  • Carla Wheeler who made Aspen's farm animal quilt,
  • Carla Hamm who donated her quilting expertise on the house quilt,
  • Terry Peacock for her quilting and generosity in wanting to see this Habitat project continue.

These quilts made this dedication all the more special. They truly helped in turning this house into a home for the Miller family. Thank you, Denton Quilt Guild, for continuing this beloved Habitat for Humanity tradition!

8-acre Habitat Housing Development
You may have heard by now that Habitat for Humanity of Denton County has purchased 8 acres of land in SE Denton with plans to create a new Habitat Denton County housing development on the property. As many as 35 new affordable homes can be provided to those in need via this development! However, the price of land continues to hamper our mission. Most buildable lots in Denton County cost way above the $60,000 we budget to keep our houses affordable.

So we need your help! It will take approximately $2 million dollars to excavate, install utilities, and grade foundation pads for home sites. We are kicking off a seed money campaign to cover the first $20,000 of engineering costs and to get the first 4 home sites ready.

Please join our campaign so Habitat can move this dream through the planning phase with the City of Denton and help more families in need!
North Texas Giving Day is September 17, 2020!
Get up and give together on #NTxGivingDay!
Thanks to you, last year we raised $4,486 on North Texas Giving Day! This year please help us blow that out of the water!

Our goal is to raise $20,000 in seed money for the 8-acre Habitat Housing Development, mentioned in the story above.

A little goes a long way when North Texans give all at once. You can make your North Texas Giving Day gift early starting September 1 all the way through North Texas Giving Day on September 17.
We have received almost $5,000 in dollar-for-dollar matching funds from generous members of our Board, making us already almost 25% of the way toward our goal! We are now asking you, our North Texas community, to rise to the challenge and help us raise $20,000 for the 8-acre Habitat Housing Development on North Texas Giving Day.
