Wednesday, June 22nd, was a typical day for Habitat Heroes, Abdul (pictured) & Felix. They were out in the community picking up Habitat store donations until Abdul and his side-kick Felix noticed smoke in the distance. They followed the smoke, worried it may be a donation on fire. But it was not. They came upon a woman yelling for help and noticed a fire had ignited in the alley next to her home.
They didn't think twice. They jumped into their superhero shirts, grabbed the fire extinguisher from their superhero truck, and tried to put out the flames for the older woman. Even as the fire department arrived, Abdul was helping to put out the flames with a hose.
After the fire, they treated themselves to Slurpees at 7-11 to cool down their superhuman bodies. We've got an exceptional group here at Habitat that goes above and beyond the call of duty. If you happen to see Abdul and Felix around town picking up donations, take a moment to commend them for helping one of our community members in need despite the dangerous situation.
Way to go, Habitat Heroes!
