Chaifetz School of Business at St. Louis University
, in partnership with
Habitat for Neighborhood Business
, provides educational resources to the HNB entrepreneurs. One of the SLU events that the HNB entrepreneurs enjoy and attend regularly is the Edward Jones Dean's Breakfast, hosted by Chaifetz School of Business Dean Mark Higgins.
The Edward Jones Dean's Breakfast Series brings together area business leaders, policymakers, academics and students to discuss leading issues facing business in the 21st century. The meetings provide the HNB entrepreneurs with a variety of perspectives on how to run a successful business and it is a great networking opportunity.
At the April Edward Jones Dean's Breakfast, entrepreneur Ray Barrett was one of the presenters. His presentation inspired HNB entrepreneur Jeanetta Hawkins to speak with him and this meeting lead to Ray becoming Jeanetta's HNB mentor.
The Edward's Jones Dean's Breakfast at SLU's Chaifetz School of Business is one of the many resources provided to HNB by SLU. HNB celebrates this invaluable partnership with

Habitat for Neighborhood Business Program Update
Habitat for Neighborhood Business has increased the participation in the program 700% since January 2018.We are delighted to report our most successful year in the 12 year history of the Habitat for Neighborhood Business program at Saint Louis University.
Occupancy at our beautiful location on Dr. MLK King Blvd. has remained excellent and by expanding our program during 2018 from the six entrepreneurs within our MLK building to locations within several under-served neighborhoods we now have nearly 20 clients with several in the pipe-line.
We recently agreed to support the tenants of McCormack Baron’s live/work project on No. Sarah.
Friendly Temple, among the areas largest and most respected churches, has initiated an entrepreneurship program and we have been invited to deliver our message; having a job is fine but “owning” your career is even better.
We recently met with the director of the new Saint Louis University Redevelopment project to discuss assisting minority entrepreneurs during its construction and, once built, as business operators.
The rapidly changing “face” of our city along with the enthusiasm by entrepreneurs for HBN’s program has heightened our conviction that we can play an important part in helping make St. Louis a great, increasingly diverse place to study, live and work.
Further, we have become more convinced than ever that our support brings improved quality to the life of our entrepreneurs and hope to underserved neighborhoods and the children within them.
On behalf of Saint Louis University, our tireless Board, many volunteer business mentors and students, as well as the entrepreneurs we serve, we ask that you consider financially helping us in this “journey.”
