What's Happening at the Capitol

The Tennessee General Assembly did not miss a beat because of the snow! I had meetings all day on Tuesday and Wednesday about potential bills for this session before the bill filing deadline arrives later this week. During committee, I heard several presentations from various departments including the Department of Finance & Administration, the Department of Human Services, and Tennessee Promise.

Both the Senate and the House will be presenting bills this week during session, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact we can have on this great state.

On Monday, January the 22nd, a dear friend of mine joined us on the Senate floor to open session in prayer. Jerry Moll is the Founder and CEO of Living Sent Ministries, dedicated to equipping leaders at all levels to serve and lead like Jesus.

Senator Marsha Blackburn is completing her annual tour of all 95 counties in the State of Tennessee, and I had the pleasure of meeting with her and local Sumner County leadership last Friday. Meet Our New Assistant!

We are excited to announce that we have added a new member to our team: Carragan Fields. She joined our office mid-December and will finish her last semester online at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville before graduating with a degree in agriculture. Carragan had the opportunity to intern in my office through the Tennessee Legislative Internship Program in 2022, and she is thrilled to be returning to serve the residents of District 18.

We are so proud of our previous assistant, Jinny, but don't worry, she hasn't gone too far! She has transitioned into Policy and Research Analyst for my office, and I am so happy to have them both!
